We aren’t sure what happened. We lost both phone and internet and the tech said it was ‘unusual’ and ‘nothing you could have caused.’ Which sort of makes us think, yep, it wasn’t us.
Jane is still having trouble getting online.

Have a very happy birthday !
She’pan’anth it is my hope that you have had a wonderful day.

Add my birthday well-wishing to the pile. ๐
Happy Birthday and best wishes from sunny California
Happy Birthday CJ from the sunny but cool Midwest!
if you are getting both phone and internet from the same provider and both go out at the same time, it’s THEIR issue! if you can get online but jane is having problems, she needs to check her network connections and see if there is something hung there that is causing the problem – compare her network settings to yours and see what is different…
and happy birthday to you! ๐ a tad late since i couldn’t get to the site the last couple of days from my hotel…
Naw…it was even dummer…it was something stuck in Firefox’s craw. I restarted the computer and brought FF back up and all was well. ๐ Something like screwed up settings I could have found! ๐
One hopes you had a marvelous birthday! Best wishes from the Junior Life-Support Filter Cleaning Crew!
oh, a little late here, but belated birthday felicitations, and I hope the connections get better ..
We had a good celebration: Joan came down the block and Sharon came after work, and we sat by the pond and had champagne and munchies.
Since my computer screen is going red on recovery from standby, Dell is going to replace the screen under extended warranty (they have heretofore replaced the whole keyboard and touchpad) so I will have the final part of the user-interface replaced—for my birthday. I have had very good luck with them by starting out with chat, doing everything the original tech wants, then taking the case number (it never resolves the problem) and writing a letter with the case number, praising the tech, but saying we did everything and it didn’t work. This automatically bumps it up to the next level, and this is where you get the nice guy who agrees it’s a hardware problem and sends parts and a tech to your front door. Jane’s had a mother-board-keyboard replacement on her refurb Dell; and I’ll have replaced everything BUT the motherboard. I’ve found it’s a good thing I keep this machine going, because the machine I’d love to get won’t work with the e-book creation program I need to use, namely Calibre. THAT’s a problem. I’m pretty sure there’ll be a 64-bit version of that program eventually, so that (and funds) is another reason to stand pat for a while. I’ve got XP, and once the problematic screen is replaced, it should be running well, so we’re good, at least for another year or so.
Wishing a very happy birthday to you, CJ! I know I’m a day late, but being a big fan of the Birthday Week I hope your celebration continues and you continue to have a fantastic time with it!
Yep, that’s what we do! We believe a birthday is too good to confine to just one day. Back when we had Lynn Abbey living with us, we could pretty well keep a celebration going from September 1 to Halloween! And then we started on Thanksgiving and Christmas. And of course we celebrate Christmas right through New Year’s Day!
Hmmm, I wonder if that’s where we put on the pounds. ๐
A most happy, if belated, birthday to you, nand’CJ! ๐ It is perhaps felicitous that I come read the blog on birthday-week (instead of merely watching it on RSS). Tea, cake, and rest to all of you!
Thank you!
