    Ready4More – I’ll be flying solo again; DH is just NOT into science fiction or fiction of any sort really, so he’s not interested.

    Joe – do you still have my avatar from Shejicon IV?

  2. ready4more

    All Associates who plan on attending any part of the ShejiCon V festivities (or even attending Worldcon, please let the ShejiCon staff know When you will arrive and depart, what hotel you are staying at and what activities you are interested in attending. We normally provide name tags with your real world first name, and the state or country in which you reside, plus your avatars/gravatars from Shejidan and/or from Wave Without a Shore.

    We have had requests for information on room or ride sharing. If you can share either room or ride please let us know so we have time to let you work out arrangements, payment etc.

      This information will be available as soon as we’re in the States. We decided that asking a a flight agent in my home town might be better than trying to finagle some kind of deal long distance from here. So we’ll let you know pronto when we have that information.

      I’ll have a tracphone to use for my stay, so if anyone would like to share their mobile numbers to keep in touch, send me a message on Shejidan, or Facebook, etc (or here; can send pm here? I don’t know…) And when I have that phone in my hands, I’ll send you all messages with my contact number.

      And Joe, I sent you a message on Shejidan regarding the name tags. I am not sure if my spouse got back to you, but he mentioned it earlier, so I assume he did. My Shejidan avatar is suitable for the name tag. 🙂

    Me and GF are flying in on Wednesday and staying at the Red Lion. We will definitely be at the Space Pirate BBQ

    • joekc6nlx

      GF’s name? AND, do you want to use your other gravatar for your nametag? I’ll have to use a generic for her’s…..

    Here’s an update on my travel arrangements for Shejicon/Worldcon next month. I’ve now booked a room at the Airport Hampton Inn from Sunday Aug 16 checking out Aug 20, at which time I’ll be moving downtown (Marriott) for Worldcon. I have a car reserved with Budget, so I’ll be able to assist with transportation and this year will actually have a clue about where things are. My flight arrives in Spokane around 2:30 p.m., so I’ll be there for the festivities Sunday evening.

    I’m looking forward to a felicitous gathering of associates.

    You should have my info via Shejidan, Ready and Joe, but if not let me know. I have high hopes that BetYeager will come and share my room, but if not I’ll have a spare bed for a non-smoking female type.

    I got my EZ Pass for the toll roads through Chicago….I swear, when Griffinmoon and I came out last year, they were more confusing than anything I’d seen on the road. When do you pull over, how often, how much, and how many times do I have to pay a toll on the same road? Maybe this will alleviate that confusion.

    I just sneaked a look at Patricia Briggs’ page, and notice she is also hosting a fannish party of sorts in August, although details are light. Worldcon, salads, the Howl… there are more and more reasons to come to Spokane in August! Is anyone planning any cross-pollination of sorts, and seeing how many events they can pack into one month?

  8. ready4more

    readyGuy and I will be in town for both ShejiCon and WorldCon and there will be some overlap between the two events (I know Surtac will be coming in for one day of ShejiCon and then WorldCon) and there will probably be others as well. We intentionally scheduled ShejiCon for a one day overlap so that we could see, meet and greet Associates who couldn’t come for the whole time. Please come visit.

    I think I’d said before, but should say again: I regret deeply not being able to attend Shejicon V this year. I’d love to go and I’m sure it will be wonderful. But I am in the middle of prep for a back tax deadline in September, followed by a payment plan after forms are processed, towards the end of this year. I am exceedingly worried about this, and trying my best but…it does not look good. I only hope to come out of it with a plan I can eventually pay off.

    I will instead be thinking good thoughts for all the folks able to attend the event, and those who were otherwise preoccupied.

    • CJ

      WIshing you the best outcome with this.

  10. ready4more

    @bcs We’re sorry you can’t make it but maybe we’ll have another ShejiCon closer to your base in Houston, sometime in the future.

  11. Neco-ji

    If I brought some extra soap along, would it be all right to sell some at Shejicon, CJ? I will donate 50% of the proceeds to the planning fun of the next Shejicon.

  12. joekc6nlx

    @WarriorofWorry, can you let me know what avatar Chris wants on her name tag?

  13. Xheralt

    Okay, I’ve finally been able to buy a Greyhound ticket, but I wanted to double-check here to see if anybody has an open slot in their room for a non-smoking male. Arriving oh-dark-hundred on the 16th, heading out on the evening of the 20th. I’ll have to go with a fleabag motel to stay on budget if I can’t find a share with anyone, so I’m hoping! Joe, I’ll PM you vie Shejidan.

    Hi,
    Please add one more attendee for SHEJICON. Our friend Tim is planing on attending, but has been having trouble registering his account on the site to let you guys know.

    Best info at this time is that he will be arriving in Spokane Monday evening late and he is staying downtown in Red Lion River Inn downtown.

    I can play intermediary if you need more information.

    thanks,
    Nancy

    • joekc6nlx

      Nancy, can you tell me which avatar you want on your name tag as well as if you want your hometown or home state on your name tag. I’d also like to get the same information for Tim, although not necessary that he have an avatar.

      • elrond

        Hi,
        Home town info first
        Nancy = Rancho Cucamonga, CA
        Trevin = Rancho Cucamonga, CA
        David = Rancho Cucamonga, CA
        Tim = Vista, CA

        As far as avatar’s can we just have the default ones from last year? I think it is the same one here. It is just really cool.

        Let me know what else you need. I am pretty busy right now, so I am sure I forgot things.

        Thanks for all your work!

    So far, I have 23 name tags made out. Not all of them have avatars, as not everyone shows up as having one, either here or on Shejidan or on Bajio Kabisu. Those that do not have avatars, if you have one you’d like to send me, let me know. The address is my WWAS name, @ gmail.com, and I’ll add the avatars.

    I have avatars for some people from last year, too, but if you want to change, please let me know. I’ll be printing them up either very late on the 12th, or early on the 13th of August, since I’ll be leaving for ShejiCon very early on the morning of the 14th.

  16. Teasel

    As soon as I can manage it I’ll be having buttons made. Rectangular:

    Just hangin’ with my salads
    SHEJICON V
    Spokane, WA Aug. 17-20, 2015

    possibly with graphic of salad bowl
    50 seems to be the basic quantity, but is this far too many?
    I’ve run this past Ready, but barring screams of anguish from anybody else I’ll go ahead and get’er done.

  17. Teasel

    Ooh…date correction on the buttons:
    Aug. 16-19

  18. ready4more

    Teasel, 50 should be about right as we may want to send a few of the buttons to associates who couldn’t make it this year. Bansu, HRHSpense, kroyd, witchyg, chondrite, hanneke, ryanrick, BlueCatShip and Claudia come to mind, plus one with either of the raffle posters if they are won by an associate who didn’t make it.

    Due to a conflict for CJ on the first day of Sasquan, Wednesday 19 August, our schedule will need to be amended:

    We have most attendees arriving mid-day on Sunday the 16th, so dinner that day (Sunday) at Swinging Door. Easy, inexpensive, and varied.

    Monday 17th Breakfast at hotels, Anthony’s for a lunch or huckleberry slumps: cheaper than dinner. We could then swing out by Arbor Crest for the view or go out to Manito Park which is about a 15 to 20 minute drive. Other suggested activities include Aunties’ bookstore and drinks at the Grand Davenport (newly remodeled). Dinner will be more spur of the moment. An evening swimming pool party at the Hampton is a possibility.

    <<>>

    <<<For Wednesday 19th-Breakfast at hotels; mid/morning: Looff Carousel and downtown area; Lunch at Clinkerdaggers’ which has a view right above the falls, and again, priced accordingly, eating outside. Volunteers are solicited to assist with cleanup at CJ’s house. Shopping at the Flour Mill, which has Wonders of the World, a sort of Curiosity Shop, where you can part with a few dollars for a trinket, or big bucks if you want other things. You can also cross the footbridge over part of the falls. CJ and Jane are scheduled for a panel between 6:00 and 6:45pm so a late dinner at Knockaderry, around 7:30pm is now under consideration-subject to change.

    Most attendees will either be departing early on Thursday 20th or attending WorldCon activities so a good bye breakfast at a local pancake place such as Waffles Plus will conclude ShejiCon V.

  20. ready4more

    I goofed and left out Tuesday:

    Tuesday 18 August-Breakfast at hotels; morning/mid-day activities including Dry Fly Distillery and/or Latah Creek wine tasting at participants discretion plus activities on the list for Wednesday as time allows. Prep for party. Any volunteers to work on the yard will have an opportunity. The day ends with the Space Pirate Barbeque starting around 5:00pm. The raffle will be held during the barbeque.
