Jane’s Groundties is up on Amazon Kindle. We are doing this so we can let more people know that Closed Circle exists, —not to mention make a little money in the process; and she needs some good reviews to help her stand out.
Please, please, if you support her book, this is the time to make a big difference. A string of readers behind her will make an impact, and you can do it. Just go to Amazon, Kindle, and search for fancher. The search choices also help bring her up in the search engine.
Done and done, and good luck with sales!
I have bought the book (yes, yes, again) and I have started re-reading it before I do a quick review. I loved this book. Adored it the first time, and second time (and maybe third time) I read it. I’m looking forward to reading it again.
I own a Nook, not a Kindle, but I downloaded their PC version and it’s really quite nice for reading!
I meant I downloaded their Kindle reader for PC in case that wasn’t clear.
VAT in europe is value added tax, which went up to 20% this year in the UK. no-one realises that vat, which is not payable on printed books, IS charged on digital books … :((. that’s the govt creeping around finding new ways to tax us ….

10 reviews so far.
Oops, just came up from sleep, and see that I may have misinformed you : the “tax” I was talking about is almost entirely Amazon’s : they have agreements for Whispernet with US telcos, buit not with foreign ones –> hence an additional burden. However while it applies to Kindle (3G), I don’t see why they charge for other than Kindle (3G).
Also, Worldwide sales (non to US customers) are not granted the 70% royalties, but only 35 IIRC …
So UNFAIR !!!
oh no, so my purchases won’t do you much good!
at .99 I only get 35% anyway, so no biggee. At this point, I’m really just trying to get readers. I’d love to put the price up to “serious book” numbers with my later stuff, but we’ll see. So many writers are doing this constant dance with the price tag, but I think that’s kind of a nasty thing to do to your readers. I guess I can see temp sales, but these people who are in the top 100 and waffle the price between .99 and 2.99 or more just to keep it there…I guess it’s smart, but you know, at some point, I want to write not watch Kindle’s sales figures! I’ve been swamped by this whole sales thing for over a year now!
purple it will work out well : 70% royalties is only for 2.99 -> 9.99 $ ebooks anyway : at 99 cents, GT has the same royalties for everyone. Just as an “international” customer, you are charged 2 additional $ that go straight to Amazon’s pocket.
but I was not charged any additional $2 on amazon.co.uk.
Maybe that’s US and UK then ? When using a “french” account, Groudties is listed at leats 2.99…
see this post for example : http://www.kindleboards.com/index.php?topic=16565.0
Chris Dolley in Book View Cafe has an interesting blog on Amazon sales rankings.

Reviewed and bought! (I have the paperback versions already)
Keep us updated!
She’s fallen a bit, into the 3000’s.
This is to be expected: we need more people to buy it, and you all already have!
But we also need people to post reviews, and even if you don’t have a Kindle, you can go to the Kindle Store and google Fancher, and do that: doesn’t need to be a huge long review: but nice words are good; and those stars really matter.
[Right now she outranks me in the listings—but people know how to find me. The problem is getting her into the awareness of buyers who don’t yet know her name.]
Also, buyers in Amazon UK and Europe, etc, your reviews won’t show on our page, as ours don’t show on yours: your reviews are really important to get buyers from other areas!
The Closed Circle name is on the publisher info in the Kindle book, which we hope will bring people here.
Purplejulian, any people that allows their government to tax them at will needs to do what we in the “colonies” did 235 years ago.
CJ, have written one review, I’m no good at them, so just said that the other reviewers were much better at it, but still gave the 5 stars.
I can see the people of the US shaking off its government to redress it’s problems too, joekc6nlx. no, these days we are all in the grip of inertia, and we are far too comfortable to do what is happening in N Africa and the Arab states.
am waiting until I have read the book to do a review!
Something you might consider is the #SampleSunday hashtag on Twitter. Lots of people follow it. Post part of a chapter, link to it and have the link to the book itself — or link to a sample online already. Also add #Kindle to the twitter post to point all those people there.
Hey, darlin’, I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m a total twit virgin. Sounds like a good idea, but I wouldn’t know where to begin. I think Carolyn set my blog up to twit, so I probably have an account, but haven’t a clue how to use it.
Oh…if I need my phone, forget it. My cell is dumber than dirt. 😀 😀 😀
Anyone can do that tweet for you (at least the link to the book on Amazon) and it would have the same effect. People monitoring the #SampleSunday or #Kindle hashtag would then have that message show up in their feed. That circumvents the whole “following” people thing since more people than your followers can see it.
During appropriate times of the week I follow #Fringe #Bulls and whatever hot topic tags like #Japan to see what everyone else is staying in real-time. It is a quick way of attracting some attention since people who want samples would be monitoring the #SampleSunday hashtag for example. It is voluntary exposure. The gorilla marketing team can probably do some of this easy stuff in 30 seconds.
Left a brief review and full complement of stars at Amazon. Thank you to the folks who straightened me out on the address!
Zette, your blog entry on epublishing was good reading, thanks!
There will be a drift in the Amazon rankings as Closed Circle and Shejidan and blog fans get the ebook, and then likely a dip for a while, until other readers find the book.
If fans *also* go review CJ’s, Jane’s, and Lynn’s books and ebooks, giving stars and comments (as opposed to comets, also handy 😉 ) that may help boost the upswell…and feed the hunger for further ebooks and books.
Not that I’m, y’know, eager or anything…. O:-)
BlueCatShip —
Thanks. Can I ask which post it was? I’ve been speaking about it quite a bit lately.
I did a sample sunday post in my blog for a story that Jane and C.J. may remember. It’s no longer in print and I’m doing a rewrite and a sequel to it — For the Honor of the Hunt.
Now I’m confused whether the blog post was by you, Zette. It was a brief post about epublishing a mystery/thriller set in Victorian-era San Francisco, and the experience in ebooks versus in print. It was, I thought, connected with your birthday. I find the post here on CJ’s blog about your book, Kat Among the Pigeons, but I don’t find the link here to that blog article. I’m either missing it, or I’ve confused two people’s posts as one person’s…. Sorry, my confusion. I did get Kat Among the Pigeons, and the other item sounds interesting. (I feel really silly for being confused/confusing. It’s been that sort of week. Looks like this week will be too, at this rate!)
On a less muddled note, I have my place marked in the Kindle version of GroundTies, so I can resume reading this week. Yay!
I could claim I’m having a blond moment, but I usually don’t. Have blond moments. Usually….
I’m just digging the hole deeper, aren’t I? LOL.
BlueShipCat, I think you meant this comment – it was just on a previous comment page of this post.
LOL. The mystery/thriller has to be someone else. It does sound interesting!
This is something I did write about Indie Publishing. It started as a blog entry, but I expanded and moved it to Vision: A Resource for Writers

Added my review of GroundTies to Amazon, Library Thing and GoodReads. I hope it helps!
