Jane’s Groundties is up on Amazon Kindle. We are doing this so we can let more people know that Closed Circle exists, —not to mention make a little money in the process; and she needs some good reviews to help her stand out.
Please, please, if you support her book, this is the time to make a big difference. A string of readers behind her will make an impact, and you can do it. Just go to Amazon, Kindle, and search for fancher. The search choices also help bring her up in the search engine.
From what I gather, in addition to getting reviews, you may want to add “tags” to the book and ask readers to “enhance” these tags by selecting them in turn.
Readers can also propose their own tags.
These tags are used by Amazon for their “suggestions” when a customer looks at a “tag related” book.
It seems Amazon also introduced a few days ago a “like” feature, but I don’t know how it works.
Good idea! I only just realized it was an option. Thanks for pointing it out! I’m terrible on that tags thing so all help is appreciated!
Bought. I’m looking forward to reading this, but I do have a queue…
Jane needs to post message(s) on the discussion boards. A lot of indie authors do this – just browse and you’ll find them.
Yes, but she also needs to make sure to post only where allowed to authors since some people there don’t like authors to promote outside of specific sub-boards, as they find out it “pollutes”.
I also don’t like these TV commercials during a movie… And author’s “self-promotion” can be seen as such.
Which is why we hope you guys will help us out where you see a natural opportunity.
Thank you!!!!
I just sent it to me via whispernet, but I won’t be able to read it for a week or two.
Hmm, that’s interesting.
I gather this is the book in question. Jane said she put it up at 0.99$, for me it shows up at 3.44$. Would be interesting to know where the difference goes.
We non US customers have to pay some kind of “export tax”. I totally HATE this… hence not buying as much at Amazon.
Sheesh. That’s CRAZY. Just get our stuff from us at CC. We don’t have to add the VAT. It’d be more than enough help if you just put reviews up…if you’ve read it! Hope you got it downloaded while it was free. It’s still only 2.99 from CC.
Yipes!!! That’s outrageous! Where are you? They make some kind of conversion for Europe, but it s/b the equivalent…plus a VAT, which I have no idea how much that is. It’s not something I have control over, but I wouldn’t think it would amount to 350%!
Yipes…just get it directly from us.

All the formats for 2.99!
Unless, of course, you got it while it was free. Not as pretty, but all the story’s there!
It must be the VAT [tax]—wow, that’s hefty! For me it shows as 99 cents. OTOH, that’s one fat book, so by weight, it’s still a good deal. The paperback cost way more than that.
Note: it’s now #16,500 on the Bestseller list. Hey, that beats 16,000,000!
A link to the ebook is not yet showing up on Jane’s author page at Amazon, but several of her print books are. I gave a review and added Amazon’s subject tags and bought it.
It’s annoying. All my stuff s/b under “Jane S. Fancher” but part is under “Jane Fancher.” They’re supposed to be straightening it out.
Much appreciated!
You ARE making an impact: sales ranking now 13,000 of all Amazon Bestsellers. That’s up 3000 in just a few purchases. Yay us! If it could ever get to the top 100 page [sales within the hour] she’d get noticed by complete strangers.
Dear CJ and Jane,
I am pretty much of a lurker, love reading your posts everyday, and was delighted to respond to this plea.
Just bought it, 99 cents. Have been writing and marketing non stop for several weeks, what lovely excuse to take a break and read.
You and Jane have been at this a lot longer than I have, so I might not have much to add, but today I did do a guest post entitled: 7 Tips on how to sell books on Kindle, that might have something of use to you or other of your readers.
See it on The Henderson Files blog at http://www.thehendersonfiles.blogspot.com/
Good luck moving up the rankings, and I will certainly write a review when I am done.

Thanks so much for this! Good post. I’ve just spent the day on the Kindle boards and hope to head for the Kindle forum tomorrow. Something I’d love, when you’re done, if you have any suggestions for tags/category, I’d really really appreciate it. I had to settle for SF/General because it’s not really any of the other subcategories.
I hope you enjoy it. I’m already headed for yours. Sounds really interesting.
Grrrr. Amazon keeps bouncing me back to the UK store. Or for some reason I cannot quite figure what appears to be amazon.very-confused as to where in the world I am.
surprised that amazon.com won’t let me buy it, but I can buy it on amazon.co.uk, no problem .. for 70p.
That sounds more like what I expected. They said it would be comparable pricing in the UK. I don’t know where that 3.44 came from!
Bought via Android Kindle app. WooT!
only 70p on amazon.co.uk for me! that includes VAT ….
Purchased for Kindle for PC (which I downloaded). It’s in the TBR queue and I’m looking forward to it.
Now at 2,210 in sales rank! Wow!
YAYAYAYAYAY Youse Guys rawk!
Bought a(nother) copy – at 99 cents, why not? “Shared” on fb, and will mention if I post in LJ this weekend. Hope it helps!
dowloaded mac kindle app, an plonked down 0.99. I have a dead tree version somewhere, but this is a good chance to try the modern version.
I found this to be interesting http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-18438_7-20037800-82.html
Jane offered the first volume of Ground Ties at Closed Circle for free. I liked it enough to buy Uplink, which I have not yet read, but I thought I had enough experience with the book to write a review.
I obviously don’t have Kindle/Amazon figured out. My search through Amazon’s “advanced search” facility for books by Jane Fancher brought up only the printed Ground Ties; no mention of the ebook.
I’m still bouncing around Amazon, looking for Jane’s ebook. If someone could post a specific url for it, I’d appreciate that.

For future ref: In the search bar area of the front page you need to use the drop down and move it from “all departments” to “kindle store” and then when you search for Fancher is comes right up. No need to go into the advanced search area or off the front page to do it.
Here it is under Kindle ebooks.
