Alas, we don’t near meet the 5000 sales criterion for the awards, even if I could get on. But if any of you want to promote us to the skies on FB, and give a breadcrumb leading to Closed Circle, we would be very grateful.
I didn’t think you needed to meet that criterion yet, to mention your book there, as nominations will start later and elsewhere and by that time the numbers might have gone up. I hoped, if people notice it in his listing, and follow the link and buy the books, numbers would go up – even if not enough for the awards, maybe enough to get some word-of-mouth buzz going for Jane’s books, which I think deserve a wider audience than they’re getting (from what you said above).
I just finished the first quick read of the three newly-released ‘Netwalkers books, WildCards, NeXus and ColdFusion (I’d read Partners and Of Mentors and Mimetrons earlier in 2013 when they came out), and I think they are very good.
They are even better than the first edition was, more balanced, and I really like her writing style.
I wish more people would read them!
5″ of snow here, temperatures got down to around -2 this morning when I woke up. A bit of wind, but the snow on the tarps on the roof is helping hold them down. Next round of storms is due to blow through on Sunday, followed by a mass of arctic air that will drive daytime highs to 3 F on Monday, and -15 F on Monday night, warming up to 6 F on Tuesday, which will also be breezy.
I got a call from the roofing company, they need to come down and have me sign some paperwork, contracts, etc., and then they’ll try to set a schedule for getting to my roof. I do NOT expect them to, nor do I want them to, work on the roof in the temperatures we’re expecting this coming week. I wouldn’t want to do it, and I’m sure they wouldn’t want to, either, with wind chills well below -15 F, your face can freeze in a matter of minutes, not to mention the hazards of hypothermia (I don’t recommend that, I’ve experienced it and it’s not pleasant). So, whenever the weather cooperates, and their schedule permits it, they’ll be down. I’ve worked out a deal to get the $1,000 deductible, and can pay it back in short increments….(Thanks, Mom!)
I looked up the wind chill chart, if it gets to -15 F and winds of 20 MPH, that equates to a -44 F wind chill factor. There is a 10 minute window before frostbite starts to set in on exposed flesh. I hope that people in the effected areas don’t forget about the four-legged, furry members of their families, bring them inside, if not into the house, at least into a garage where they’ll be out of the wind, wet, and cold.
Definitely stay warm!
Perhaps, in honor of the new year, I shall put aside all my disguises.
