This was an Interesting Evening: Jane in the ER…

…from trimming a plant. It seems everything about euphorbias (spurge) is poisonous. She had trimmed the euphorbia we brought in, and began having eye pain. A fast check of the internet turned up “sap in the eye: blindness,” seeds–death. Fumes off the living plant can be harmful to the eyes. Etc. We called OSG for [...]

day 5: Jane’s still converting text, but is closing in on it…

The new book release (Alizant) is still set for the 1st. For those of you who’ve never tried e-books, remember you and your printer can turn one of our e-books into paper. Just print out the pdf. Or use the html and your own word processor to convert it into any size format you like. [...]

We took the seasonal Lake Coeur d’Alene cruise…

Jane and OSG and I…on the littlest dinner cruise boat, the Osprey, in a 40 mph gale with blowing dust. But we love the upper deck…so there we sat, having dinner (the boat was near the hilly shore at that point, which, gave us enough calm to keep the plates on the boat.

We took [...]

Jane’s started the file conversions for her book.

The book is edited, and in good shape. What comes now is that messy business of composing the ‘mini’ and the ‘full’ downloads, which is close to arcane—not so, since I know what she’s doing, but suffice it to say she’s only gotten to the TOC (table of contents) and she’s nursing a splitting headache.

making progress on the book…

It takes me a while to recover my stride after a diversion. Thank goodness for outlines. We were, for one thing, diverted by a spate of really cool weather, making it foolish to wait to do certain outdoor jobs which would have to be done in potential 100 degree weather, when we had a run [...]

Closed Circle is soon to break out in new books…

While I’ve been busy getting Bren into trouble, Jane and Lynn have been working hard on book conversions, and Lynn has her latest cover (her own work) up on her site. Very soon now, they will be putting up books. Jane is close. Lynn is close. Just a heads-up. Plus we have some fun new [...]

Jane threw her back out…

I think it’s the shoveling and raking: but she is in acute misery. A day on muscle relaxant, and she’s still having spasms—something about planting: a dogwood, a magnolia, 2 rhododendrons, an azalea, pulling weeds from the entire garden path (about 300 feet loop) raking grass, sorting pine cones, pulling (a real tug of war [...]

Jane’s made some formatting discoveries…which will translate to…

…nicer e-books in some formats. Some of the older formats (RTF, TXT and others) have some problems (gappiness and not displaying graphics) that she believes she can resolve. We aren’t yet ready to undertake revision of all our books, since Jane deserves the time to get her own books up there, but it will happen. [...]

Jane is ex-haust-ed…

Up at 2 am and not calling me: seems she found out it was the Condor deadline for getting an ad in the program book, and she sat up half the night putting a new format together, since what we could afford was a half page, and our regular flier isn’t formatted for that size.

Lynn’s got 2 blog posts up…Jane’s got the account of the attack…
