Jane’s bro has just moved, so we landed in the middle of a new house set-up. The cats were confused…they know Jane’s bros, but the house was new, and there were (dreaded) boxes: they were really on best behavior.
We contributed to the move-in. Jane installed a new icemaker in the fridge and rearranged the attached storeroom, plus unpacked the china and hung pictures and repaired favorite broken sit-abouts. My contribution was a shower curtain set-up and some unpacking and box-shifting. Plus lock-picking. Jane’s bros inherited their dad’s flight bag (early aviation pioneer) and I was able to pick one lock and figure out how to get the other, broken, one open with no further damage.
We found a new place to eat in Renton (Jane’s bro’s favorite watering hole.) Spectacularly good pizza. And I’ll let Jane tell you the details of the drive, which was wonderfully scenic.
We spent yesterday helping our GM/host clean house. His parents live in Montana during the summer, but return here for the winter. All the people from our gaming group showed up yesterday to dust, vacuum, sort junk, mop floors, etc. Considering we get royally fed and entertained at this house weekly, it’s a small effort for lots of enjoyment.
Good thing the cats behaved themselves; I’d have a horror of one getting scared and lost in an unknown house or neighborhood. I’m sure Jane’s bro appreciated the extra hands, although he may come to regret the icemaker, as those tend to be the first thing that poops out in a perfectly good refrigerator.
Ah, but we know where to buy one and how to install it. 😉 This is the general Amana-style workhorse, easy in-easy out, repairwise, if you have the right connectors.
So glad you were just off on a jaunt — I had visions of massive system wigginess to explain the no-new-news! Didn’t help that we just got back from a big trip and I was wondering if I had missed something important. Bet the cats were funny to watch. At least you don’t have to deal with a day or two of two fuzzy people wanting nothing to do with you quickly followed by being told off in no uncertain terms and tripping over them for at least 3 days; they refuse to let us out of their sight. Willow is still chewing me out and was not happy that I went to work this morning [well, neither was I]. Welcome back!
Jane is a true jill-of-all-trades and a good sis! Sounds liek he needed the help. Glad you made it back safely!
Jane is amazing.
