Gut pain, serious, continual gut pain. We’re having her checked by the vet asap. Getting her home, she couldn’t even stand to be put in a carrier: I carried her back to the house in my arms, very carefully. She’s drinking, she’s eating, but she’s been unable to keep food down and she’s mad and hurting; which means she hit Eushu with no punches pulled, which means Eushu attacks back with the force of a bowling-ball, and then she gets really upset, because it really hurt. It was like that. They fought. This didn’t help either of them.
We’re having an evening. THis was going to be a great week: the long (48 year) postponed trip to see Crater Lake, room at the lodge, Jane and I and OSG, for OSG’s birthday, and we have to cancel. OSG’s been incredibly understanding and sweet about it, and we are just so sorry to screw things up. It’s like there’s a disaster of some kind every time I try to visit Crater Lake; and this year has just had a cloud over it…Enough to make you superstitious. If OSG goes alone I hope she has a really, really good time.
I’m sorry for this distress for you and Ysabel. Long-distance virtual hugs to you all.
Oh no! Very sorry to hear of this development; My kittehs and I will hope for the best and send positive vibes in your and Ysabel’s direction.
Heh. Nothing to be understanding about. Poor, dear Ysabel!
If it was our Emily or Kate, we couldn’t (and wouldn’t) leave either. OSGuy and I no longer vacation together as we simply can’t (and won’t) leave Katie with a cat-sitter — not with parenteral (IV) fluids needed every 2 days, plus all the pilling.
There is always later this summer for Crater Lake — or next year, when things settle down — and also Eushu has matured. CL will still be there, as it has for 48 [thousand] years.
This has been a very, very traumatic year for you! No use going if you can’t truly relax and enjoy yourself. Even if Ysabel made a miraculous recovery in the next 24 hours, *any* trip is not a good idea right now.
How was the pond when you got home tonight? All pumps and tubes functioning? Nothing belly-up?
Excellent, thanks to you, OSG. The filter was ready to be cleaned.
We’re having Ysabel to the vet today, for tests. She’s happier to be home, and drinking, thank goodness, and eating a little, but something’s wrong in her gut, still, and at 15, which is 90 for a Siamese, she’s just no spring chicken. Ordinarily she plays with him. But something was already wrong by the time we got to Chip’s: the trip was hard on her, and then when she got there she started calling for Efanor, who used to go with her there. That just set it all up, and stressed everybody out. She went into mourning and then gut distress, and I think got a little confused, and went short-tempered with Eushu, who thought she was playing. Eushu, being a biker wanna-be at a kitty 14, hit her full-tilt from across the room and rolled with her, and that didn’t improve Ysabel’s well-known temper. She focused, all right, and fought back. But she’s shivering periodically, and hurting. I’m anxious until we can get her in and get her seen to. Now that we’ve gotten her home, she’s finding her chair, and her favorite sunbeam, and is much happier, but what’s going on is more than emotional, I’m sure.
OSG is right. True friends understand these things – especially when they have beloved kitties of their own. Worth their weight in gold, friends like that. (Happy Birthday, BTW, OSG) I’ll be sending all positive and loving thoughts to beautiful Ysabel and to you and Jane, as well. Please take care.
oh no! poor Ysabel .. I do hope it’s an easily explainable and treatable glitch ….
Well, poop. Good thoughts towards Ysabel’s speedy recovery, and your much-postponed trip!
Toes crossed that all goes well with Ysabel. Sending all good thoughts to all the kitteh and human family members.
Happy Day, OSG!
Poor Ysabel. This has been a bad year for you, and I’m still so sorry about Efanor. I hope she gets to feeling better and that it’s nothing major.
Everybody should do birthday wishes for OSG.
Mais oui! Felicitations, OSG!
Happy Birthday, OSG!
*waves Happy Birthday to OSG* hope it’s a good one!
Crater Lake is beautiful at any season although; they close the lodge once the snow piles up. If you go West a little from the lake on Hwy 62, there are two beautiful places to stop along the Rogue River. The first is a gorge at Union Creek that is just gorgeous so to speak. The other is the Natural Bridge where the river runs through a lava field and completely disappears into a lava tube for 50-100 yards. On the way down to Union Creek, there is another feature that’s worth a glance, the far side of the canyon is made up of very rounded flutes somewhat similar to the inside of a pleated commercial coffee filter. The whole ridge is bare rock or cemented ash running a long ways down to the river at a 70 degree angle or better.
I can also point you to some home cooking if you like, all of my siblings live down in the valley. 😉
Thank you! These are places I would love to explore and and will save the ideas for next year’s expedition.
BTW, Brennan – isn’t that Crater Lake in your profile pic?
Absolutely! We’re sitting on the stone wall well to the left side of the parking lot. That’s Wizard Island on the right side of the frame and I think that the reverse point of view would probably intersect the gift shop. That’s my better half and the younger two of our three. BTW, we visited all three of my recommended places on this particular trip to the lake. I truly love everything but the job market down there in Southern Oregon. On the other hand, my lady who is a fourth generation Seattlite is not as fond as I am of the summers which she finds too hot and dry down in the valley.
Oh, no, not Ysabel again! Things seemed to be going so smoothly! Of course Eushu is acting out; he knows things aren’t the way they are supposed to be, so he is going to be difficult until you humans get it fixed.
What a horrible year this has been for all of you.
Happy birthday, OSG! (I started a thread at Shejidan for you!)
Happy Birthday, OSG!
Cross-posted from another website, but certainly fitting here:
I certainly don’t want to seem ungracious but feel compelled to remark that my birthday isn’t until Wednesday. For the second year in a row a number of people have thought my Natal Day was at least several days earlier. Very funny! Even my *cousin* congratulated me several days ago on my 39th birthday.
All this certainly begs the conclusion that people are delicately hinting that because of my advancing years, it may take well take several extra days to get all the candles lit on time.
Thank you everyone!
BirthDAY is so limiting; we usually have BirthWEEK here and celebrate several times. Sometimes, we have “half” birthdays, six months from the exact natal day.
I approve of that!
It’s because your birthday is such a magnificent occasion that it spreads felicity in several directions.
