Finished skating, went and picked up a new door at the valley store—measured it carefully, got it home, pulled the ‘old’ new door and shoved this one into the opening. Perfect. It opens. It closes. It’s in balance. All we have to do is add a few shims for stability and screw it in.
Yay us. And now we return the mismeasured door and get our money back.
I’m really envious. Next week, I get to look for a new gate to replace the old one. I’m amazed I haven’t heatd complaints (I’m probably just not there to hear them). I’ll have to ask a couple of friends if they can do the install; otherwise, It’ll be a scramble for a contracto. The fence posts holding the gate, plus support boards and fence planks also will have to get done. But when it’s dine, it’ll be done.
I wish you an honest contractor and a good, fast job.
Huzzah!
Congratulations on a (finally) well done job … 🙂
Whew…don’t jinx us! it’s not done yet. 😀 Keeping fingers crossed. And the wall isn’t plumb, so we have to set the door in balance, then use creative molding to hide the edge…but that’s the fun part…
