He’s dropped a little weight over the past couple of weeks, then yesterday afternoon refused a favorite treat.
We took him to the vet.
Blood tests are very bad. You have to wonder how he looks so good. There’s not much can be done except buy a little comfort and some good days. Jane is very upset—well, honestly we’re both really upset, but he’s Jane’s special kitty, and this is why I’m making this entry right now, because Jane isn’t doing real well, and shouldn’t have to break thiis news to the world herself.
So kind thoughts will be appreciated. We’ve both been there many times before, but it never gets easier.
I really hope Efanor will get better, my thoughts go to you with lot of hugs
Thanks, everyone.
I went through this with his previous incarnation, Elrond (the first, Effy, was killed while I was away) and Mr Elrond definitely let me know when the time had come. I guess the big difference there is, Rondo was twenty and had turned into the cutest little old man. Eventually, his body just gave out. Efanor, at fourteen, was prime and to all visual cues, healthy only a week ago. He still looks beautiful and sleek, just a bit limp and listless and definitely weak. His red cell count is insanely low.
He’s eating a few smoochies and some tuna, but mostly he seeks out his “places” and sleeps. He is, after all, a cat!
Hugs back to everyone.
Neither of us is doing well today. Some things you expect. This wasn’t one of them.
So sorry to hear this. Your kittehs have come into of the lives of all of your readers who can see what a large and important part they play in your life. You have generously shared your love of them with us. In a small way, we share your sorrow.
I’ve lost two kitties in the past year. It is never easy.
I’m sorry to hear this. Hugs and empathy.
I wish we could have “met” both Efanor and Ysabel last June, but circumstances just didn’t seem to be right. I know Ysabel doesn’t like to be picked up, and I don’t do that to any cat I don’t know. Only 2 of my cats like being picked up and only for a very short time.
I am sorry to hear about Efanor, and hope that his time is comfortable.
Wish you could have, too. Efanor had just gotten to where he’d put in an appearance when we have one or two guests, but a crowd was just too much. The house is just too quiet now. He’s sleeping most of the time, now. And it’s very sad.
My son gives his kitteh fluid under his skin every day, special prescription food, and a phosphorus binder to counter kidney failure. He brought the little guy back from the brink, and the kitteh is doing very well, but we know it’s only a matter of time.
It is very sad that Efanor is not doing well. I know how bad you must feel, and my heart goes out to you both.
So very sorry to hear about Efanor. I know you and Ysbel will be hurting too. Our pets give us so much in their short lifetimes. It is so hard to lose a member of the family. All four of you are all in the thoughts of many of us.
Deepest sympathy and empathy. With few exceptions we will outlive our pets. They deserve the best for their instinctive love and care.
one ought to be prepared, but it’s always devastating …. I have a 15 year-old dog who is healthy and happy … so far … so sorry Jane … 🙁
