He’s dropped a little weight over the past couple of weeks, then yesterday afternoon refused a favorite treat.
We took him to the vet.
Blood tests are very bad. You have to wonder how he looks so good. There’s not much can be done except buy a little comfort and some good days. Jane is very upset—well, honestly we’re both really upset, but he’s Jane’s special kitty, and this is why I’m making this entry right now, because Jane isn’t doing real well, and shouldn’t have to break thiis news to the world herself.
So kind thoughts will be appreciated. We’ve both been there many times before, but it never gets easier.
Oh no. I am so sorry! I know how difficult this is.
You have given him the best life he ever would have had. Always remember that part.
I agree with zette. Kind thoughts and ehugs to you both, especially Jane. Efanor is so clearly loved, as is Ysabel; we have followed their exploits for years. I hope you have many good comfortable days left with Efanor.
Poor Jane. Poor Efanor.
My heart is with Jane and Efanor.
Thanks, Carolyn. I did put up a blog post with a couple of pix I just took. He looks so beautiful and healthy, it’s hard to believe there’s anything wrong. Zette, WoW…everyone, he’s an amazing kitteh. When we got him, he was a traumatized mess. He somehow turned into this amazingly loving, beautifully behaved, world-traveled gentleman. I’m honored to be his “mama”
very sorry to hear 🙁
No, it never does. But all my cats are rescues so I can feel some comfort from the fact that they had great lives that they wound not have had if I hadn’t been there.
It’s small comfort but better than nothing.

E-hugs are a poor shadow of the real thing, but I will share a little of your sorrow.
I am so very sorry. Lots of hugs and a shoulder as needed. No, it’s never easy and it’s always lousy. Peace on all of you and I also hope you have many comfortable days together.
Each one is so special, and we love them so much. Good vibes, purrs and rubs to both of you and to Efanor. Bless you for adopting rescues. Two of mine are rescues, and the other one was intercepted on the way to the city pound.
Oh, so sorry to hear this news. (((((((Efanor))))))) (((((((((Jane))))))))) ((((((((CJ)))))))) ((((((Ysabel)))))
Cats always do this, in my experience – their threshold for discomfort is so high we have no idea how desperate their condition is until it is far too late to do anything except make them comfortable. We will all be thinking of you.
Auwe! I am so sorry to hear about Efanor’s decline. I hope that something may yet be done to help him, and failing that, that the rest of his days are comfortable and surrounded by those who love him. Many hugs and skritches.
So very sorry to hear of this! I’ve followed your blog for years now and have always enjoyed hearing about your kittehs! Hugs to you all!
I just posted on Jane’s blog. I’ve been through kitty illnesses and old age, including FIV and various other things, and…it is not easy when your friend, feline or human, is going through a bad time.
My best wishes for Efanor and great empathy for Jane and you, CJ, and Ysabel.
:hugs:
Blessings of peace to all of you. I’ve been there many times. No, it’s never easy, it always hurts. Hold that kitty close as long as you can and love him. Bast bless you all.
Losing a beloved pet is so sad, and when you know it’s coming the upset is that much longer. Give him love and comfort. Hugs to Jane, Efanor and all.
So sorry for the cat. Hugs to you and Jane.
Oh what sad words to hear: I dread to hear them some day for my own kitties and know it will come. Pats and cuddles and special moments for both of you to spend in the days still here.
Sooo sorry to hear this, I know exactly how it feels to lose a special pet =(, you never get that piece of your heart back, but then they are always in there with you, try and remember that =)
Sorry to hear. Even if you know it will come it’s so hard to cope with 🙁
Hugs.
