It’s proliferated all through the entertainment/media sites… If you google Gates of Morgaine —you’ll find a ton of them, and now there’s a second producer showing up on some lists…
The movie project is gaining ‘legs’…

Probably smoke and mirrors. Sometimes in Hollywood producers say they have the rights just to generate buzz. The best example I know is The Stars My Destination-still unmade-in the 90s when several producers including John Carpenter claimed to be making the film.
They weren’t. I knew the rights holder and he was sitting on them. May still be.

Legs? How many? Any pseudopods or tentacles? Heheheh!
Very happy about this. I would *love* to see more quality, deep science fiction and fantasy get on screen. A movie series or TV series might be one way to deal with the depth and breadth of story that good novels have.
I’d say which books I’d also like to see, but that would quickly turn into “all of them, I can’t choose.” — Downbelow Station and the Chanur books, though, for starters.
For that matter, bring on lots of other SF&F authors’ books.
Also, wouldn’t mind a few that get the public excited about space exploration.
A good Western too, while they’re at it. Modern or pioneer. Kinda miss ’em. Historical dramas too.
So glad to see CJ’s books getting media attention. About danged time!
I think these might translate into film better than most. They could streamline the plot a bit if need be so long as they got the mission and the characters and the relationships right, don’t you think? Film and good acting can capture so much that it takes many pages to develop and deliver.
I would seriously doubt the ability of the film folk to capture Cyteen or Downbelow Station- to me they are too big and too nuanced. Another one that seems good film material to me is Paladin, which is and has always been one of my favorites . Did they ever option it, CJ?
And after you Google up all those Morgaine sites, be sure to go to EACH ONE and leave an appreciative comment. Morgaine Fans (Cj Fans!) *We*can*help*!* Keep the buzz rolling! In all honesty, one of the best things for CJ will be if the movie doesn’t get made… but the producers keep renewing the option. Go read F Paul Wilson’s site http://www.repairmanjack.com for the travails of getting a movie made of the Repairman Jack saga, and the horrors of “The Keep.”
Be patient for it to be done right… and if it’s done wrong, remember we still have the books.
