…and cold. But the temperature has not dropped due to turning on the pump. Which is good. We have a mixed bag of weather today…a few degrees colder air, but sun, which we didn’t have yesterday; and when sun hits the black/dark liner, that tends to warm things up. Plus the pump contributes some heat. So…the forecast is to trend toward 60. The pond temp is about 45. Koi won’t eat until about 52 ambient. I didn’t want a general warming to throw the pond oxygen-poor, due to the nutrients in the water; so it seemed the better of two choices to power up the pump and let the waterfall start oxygenating. Once that happens, there’ll be some bacterial activity as soon as the temperature permits, and apparently there are bacteria, because there is definitely froth. Less now than this morning, which is normal as the sunlight continues; but I’m testing the water. Readings are odd, not surprising, giving the cold; I’m adding a little bacterial (beneficial) stuff; checking the ph (high normal).
The rework is going well. I’m about 160 pages into it, and it’s working well.
I’m taking thought about that short story upload. I think what I’m going to do, Jane’s suggestion, and one that makes sense, is to take contributions. You contribute, we have a little thread where everybody can discuss it, and when we make a certain amount in contributions, or if I get inspired and encouraged, I have to do another bit of the story, plus maybe make some changes you’ll have talked about and convinced me to do. This is why it’s good to do it with a simple story, not one of the complex sort. Once it’s done, people who have contributed a certain amount will have paid for their download plus they’ll (I hope) have had some fun in the discussion along the way.
Boy,better you than me. When I have written down a
story(my aunt keeps after me for stories of my life)I always have grand descriptions in my head
but there is severe editing between my brain and the actual product(pure laziness).
I ordered my pre-order of Deceiver(umm, well in fact I accidentally ordered two when my finger took on a life of it’s own and stuttered on the click,my attempt to rectify the problem left the
B&N site looking a bit ragged)
Rain……rain…….and more rain….but still a lot of ice around. The well flooded this morning (It’s a 19′ dug well.) which means we will have plenty of water this summer. 🙂 😀 😆
@Azurblu…have you ever tried just doing a stream of consciousness type of writing? Back when I was writing a lot of art history papers I would would put everything down I knew about a subject. NO ONE ever saw that draft, but I could see where I wanted to expand and cut…….mostly cut. It’s a method that worked for me because it got me past that infernal, internal editor! 😉
Hope the pond is going well CJ ji. Is Jane going to post pics? ……….puleeeeze?
Ordering Deceiver today…….yum…yum…..yum……..is there such a thing as music to the eyes?
I found the only way to get past the First Draft Editor was to tell myself no one would ever see the thing. Ever. I have a lot more trouble with the Rewriting Editor, who had me rewrite the first novel into the ground (15 years, until I can’t look at it anymore), and who has had me re-writing this one for the past 7. It’s a lot better now, of course, but 7 years is just unreasonable. It’s not like it’s changed THAT much. I just don’t know how to shut that editor up. (And I can’t just stop, because I’m rewriting the end, which was the one thing all my first readers mentioned was somewhat unsatisfactory — and it took this long for me to think of (yet another, third so far) possible ending.) I’m starting to hate this book…
