..it’s all up hill from there, eh?
I’ve been a little distracted, shall we say?
I drank a cup of bleach solution (been cleaning the water filter) at dawn this morning. Called Poison Control. All ok. People do worse.
I ran a school zone. Got stopped on the way back from the doctor’s.
Got so disoriented I couldn’t find the pancake place without Jane’s navigation. I’d have been in Idaho.
But it’s a good day. The cats are snarling at each other. Jane had her second round of tests this morning: Jane’s insides are certified to be in very good shape, and now we’re down to the hemotologist.
Cup of bleach? Is that code for a cup of tea from Illisidi?
Just about as good. Glug.
Your innards will be as squeaky clean as Jane’s 😀
Managed to something somewhat similar to the cup of bleach solution while hiking once. I’d brought a small bottle of bleach to use for water purification, but managed to add noticeably more to my mug than planned! The resulting drink tasted rather chlorine-ish but on the plus side, it did happen to (apparently) deal with the minor stomach upset I was having at the time!
I’ve not done that before, but I am pretty good at picking up days old cups and drinking from them on accident. Stale water or old coffee usually. Yuck. Typically they were meant for drinking though. At least at one point. I also randomly ate a piece of popcorn off the couch. I couldn’t remember when I had popcorn last or figure out WHY I had done it, but I suffered no ill effects rather than learning that when I get distracted I reeeallly get distracted. I assume your bleach was watered down enough not to have noticed the smell or anything. Gotta put that stuff in nasty cups you won’t ever be tempted to drink from.
Bleach is a wonderful disinfectant . . .
And it’s great news about Jane!
I once accidentally drank a cup of hydrogen peroxide…it was more “bubbly” than champagne! Good news about our Jane; am waiting to hear good news about her from the hematologist. My Mom has just been found to be severely anemic, so we’re starting the same round of tests as Jane has been undergoing.
We wish her the best of outcomes. Pernicious anemia is one possibility we’re chasing. Sounds awful, but treatable with vitamin B12.
good there was nothing evil inside. Hope the real cause is easily addressed. You both need a vacation!
IIRC, in the old days way way back in the piney woods, they used a dose of turpentine for worms . – LOL
Keeping toes crossed (really) for a simple explanation and an easy and inexpensive treatment for Jane’s anemia.
Good to hear Jane is doing well. And just in time to be of service to you when you change roles! Hope you can both take it a bit easier for a while.
Eek. That’s not how to get midi-chlorians!
Well, your insides should be fragrant and paler and quite disinfected.
Thank goodness Jane’s tests were good, and here’s hoping further poking about will turn out well.
Sounds like you haven’t been sleeping well –? Take care of yourself and your precious cargo (the next Foreigner book!)
Eek. Time to sit back and just relax for a bit. Trust me. And I am glad to hear Jane’s tests turned out so well!
Thank you for your good wishes. I passed them along to my Mom and saw the first big smile I’ve seen days. And I agree with everyone here – please take good care of yourself, as well. One might recommend a nice (safe) cup of tea with, perhaps, Ysabel snuggled up close. Until, of course, Eushu comes to investigate…..
Wonderful news about Jane! 🙂 😀 😆
Not so good to drink bleach, but so easy to get distracted from the moment. 🙁
Try to relax this weekend….easier said than done. I go outside to sit and drink tea and pretty soon I am deadheading plants, skimming pond and pool….*you* know. Pollen has been horrendous this year. Cold, wet spring so everything has bloomed at once.
There’s a very pretty long hair calico kitteh in the yard. Hope he/she is a visitor and not homeless. 8)
Best wishes from Colorado!
Regarding anemia: My grandmother had such problems with recurring ulcers, diverticulitis, and other such chronic GI stuff, that her doctors put her on Fergon, an iron tablet, pretty strong, once a day. This can have effects on one’s, ah, “output,” which the doctor would discuss if he/she were to prescribe it for Jane. Fergon is available at my local pharmacy by special order, but over the counter with a doctor’s recommendation. I order a couple of bottles at a time to save. If Jane is having persistent or chronic anemia, the doctor may want her on Fergon. It’s worth discussing the pros and cons. (I’m no doctor, so I don’t know beyond experience.)
There’s also the trick of cooking with a cast iron skillet, the heavy old fashioned kind grandma used. Not only will you exercise your arm muscles (hah!) but it imparts a bit of iron to all you cook in it, which is, yes, healthy. I’ve had more than one doctor specifically recommend this to me or for her. Practical, common sense medicine, apparently. Just an old country doctor? I bet Bones McCoy would approve.
Newbie here, though I’ve been lurking for quite a while–I’ve imbibed rather flat hydrogen peroxide, myself. I really shouldn’t leave glasses around of questionable substances when it’s hot weather!
As a veteran of many dental abscesses — I can testify that hydrogen peroxide, diluted, is an excellent mouthwash and very good at fighting infections and if you accidentally drink a little it will not kill you, which is good to know. It tastes kind of like sour cream. I’ve never tried bleach, though.
