I wish it would just snow and be nice. This banded weather is a pain. Though it does mean we’ve only had to clear the walks once.
Snow, then rain, snow, then rain…

It’s coming this way next. It’s 51 degrees at 7:35AM EST. Tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the 50s, and then dropping through the afternoon. It’s then going to cold for the rest of the week. Rain tomorrow, then mixed snow/rain on Wednesday night, then who knows?
Overly warm, not quite beyond seasonal possibilities here, but yes, warm. Drizzly rain and wind today, just messy and crummy. — This winter has been too mild, too warm, or it has felt that way to me. I’m native to the area. — Two summers ago, we had highs over a week above 100*F, 80’s at night, so…yup, kinda nervous what summer will be like. — We’ve had a few cold snaps this winter, but it hasn’t seemed cold enough long enough. Then again, we can have one last hurrah of a freeze/cold snap right before Easter, if it wants, so it might surprise us yet. Generally, it’s still wintry in March, with spring in April.
Wishing for good things for everyone, whatever the weather holds.
It’s raining steadily today *happydance* and all the plants are rejoicing. Smartypants was on the back lanai, out of the rain and looking grouchier than usual, although I actually was able to lay a finger on him momentarily. He devoured breakfast and slunk away. Earlier in the week, he brought by his posse, including a couple of cats I had never seen before. I’m not sure I want to feed every cat in my neighborhood.
We just had four days of rain and snow off and on all day yesterday. Over 4 inches of precep. Made for some rip-roaring drainages! Four days of snow would have been better.
Here in southern Ontario we have had all sorts in the past week. Last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we had -20C (-4F) overnights. Froze a water pipe one night. Today it was 3C (38F) this afternoon and right now, and the overnight low is 9C (48F)* denotes an abnormal tempeature trend :D, the high tomrrow 15C (59F). Thursday it’s back to minus single digits highs and lows for a week or more. I got out my fall jacket but haven’t put away the winter coat.
And City Council today received a study about infrastructure preparedness against climate change – and decided to study it for a year!
36F/2C here in Tx Panhandle at the moment with a snow icon on my weather widget. I thought it was getting a little chilly. Hope it does snow. We need it. I’ve nowhere to go, I’m taking a break from cleaning house to have supper and let it settle. Then back to cleaning and wrestling furniture. The exercise will keep me warm.
We are finally getting a real snow—which the weather critters are calling ‘light,’ after they have blown the forecast calling for 3″ when we got a dusting. Clearly they are having a confused winter too.
My family has an old ‘joke’ that probably originated with the Blizzard of ’78. Variations on ‘two feet of Partly Cloudy’ adjusted for whatever screw up the meteorologists have made THIS time around. Amazingly enough, it gets used a few times every winter!
Yeah, this hot-real cold-warm, then hot weather is playing merry hell with my health. Straight winter, then spring summer etc PLEASE…though that is wishful, nostalgic thinking with Global warming bollocking up weather patterns. Patterns…? They seem to be predictable only in that they swing from cold to warm then back to cold…bloody Global warming 😛 My only hope is that eventually some of the environmental damage can be halted in our lifetimes.
I’m in Wisconsin, and we had sub-zero lows last week, warmed up to the 40s and mid-50s this week with mixtures of snow and freezing rain, and then just rain. Then, it grew cold again, so freezing rain covered by several inches of snow. Sub-zero lows predicted for a few days, then warming up to the 20s for lows. Because the ground is frozen the rain caused a lot of flooding, so many people are dealing with wet basements and snow shoveling at the same time. Very hard on animals and plants, too!
The freeze-thaw-rinse-repeat cycle we’ve been having is doing a number on the roads around here (SE MI).
It is still cycling, but is now below freezing for the most part. Now, it gets a biut warmer and dumps a bunch of snow, then it drops 20 degrees.
