Be patient. We had an update we didn’t install, something’s gone wonky with the headers [again] and we will be fixing it…but it’s late, it’s just hit without us pushing a single button, and we are just too tired to cope right now.
Our usual theme/images has pulled something weird…

At least its pretty pictures instead of advertisements or something truly obnoxious!
Odd, to say the least. For a while there I couldn’t connect to any Word Press blog. It came up Safari unable to connect, but I think it was Cox which gets wonky at times
There were some spam merchants trying to crack wp in general. Didn’t work. but we lost some image files in the response.
I like the raspberries. Wild black raspberries picked and eaten warm from the sun are my idea of a blessing.
Love them or blackberries. 😉
But Lynn found my missing files in backup, so I can restore them.
At least the berries are beautiful and pleasant. (And tasty!)
Computers and the web can be just maddening when they upgrade.
I use LibreOffice. (I haven’t seen if OpenOffice went back to being open source.) I can’t stand, and can’t afford, MS Office’s changes since about 2010 (ribbon et al.). Word Perfect and all of Corel’s products are, unfortunately, not available for the Mac, only Windows. (My desktop is now an iMac. I mostly love it. My laptop remains a Win7 box.)
But in the most recent two or three updates, LibreOffice has some strange oddness, some bugs, regarding font handling. It only affects some fonts. Older and newer, but font-families with multiple (more than 4) faces. So it refuses to acknowledge some faces even exist, while for others, it insists on the bold, or not bold, but does not properly *save* it to file either way. (The results come back different after close and re-open.) — My font files are fine and did not change setup. They work fine in other programs.
This is…maddening and barely tolerable, from my most basic, essential software tool.
I tried to report the bug over the weekend, with a better description than I’ve given here, but their bug-reporting system was down each time I tried. I’ll try again during business hours.
Meanwhile, I’ll be looking for alternatives. (I have Apple’s Pages application, and I will get OpenOffice again.) Any other good alternatives are welcome, if anyone has suggestions. I wish Corel’s products were available for the Mac.
(I may have to resort to sneaker-net between my Win7 laptop and Mac desktop for word processor files. — My text, code, and web page editors are just fine, thankfully.)
Le sigh. Ce n’est jamais facile, la machine à calculer. (If ever the French needed to change a word / fixed expression, “machine à calculer” for “computer” is it.)
Eh bien, c’est la vie. Toujours l’ennui à supercéder. (Note to self: look up “overcome” or “to get through” also.)
I rather like the ” varigated Andromeda”, i.e. Pieris japonica, image.
Oh, now there’s a nice little white wild rose. Rosa canescens? White variety of R. rugosa?
Now if only they can add some fish pics, and astronomy pics to the cycle, our host’s interests would be reasonable represented.
