…once you’ve already enrolled here. Can someone explain the process for getting your own avatar for people who’ve already signed onto this site?
Ok, we’ve got new people and I can never remember how that avatar process goes…

It’s been so long since I’ve worried about my gravatar, I couldn’t begin to do it without an extremely well written guide.
Yes, that’s what I did too. 🙂
It’s very simple. To add a profile image, also known as an ‘avatar’ :
1. Go to gravatar.com and register there with the same email address you used here.
2. On Gravatar, go to My Account -> Manage my Gravatars and add an image of your choice.
It will then automatically appear here.
just testing to see if my avatar (my eve-online self) works
Yes, yes, it does!
Our primary spam-catcher requires that all *first* comments be approved by me, and once you have one approved, your replies will appear instantly forever after (unless your comment contains multiple links, which will trigger the thing) —
So if you want to be able to comment in a timely way, best get it over with now while you’re thinking of it and just make a Hi! It’s me! kind of post so I can clear it and get you through the wicket. Then and forevermore when you’re just aching to say something, you can, and it will pop right up without my having to clear it.
Function follows form?
nope, no gravitar…
Now I’m on! Well, a few years ago… just achieved victory over my 57th…
Test
Ah, missed those instructions. Someone else is already using Mazian on Gravatar. Guess I get to stay with the random default image.
If your specialty avatar is a brain, yours works!
Oh, hey… there it is. I tried linking my gmail account to my gravatar account… it took a while to sync up it seems. (about 20 minutes, which is about 10 minutes longer than I spent staring at it.)
But, there it is.
Happiness.
Good!
If you don’t see the image appear immediately, try refreshing the page in your browser a couple of times.
Guess I ought to update mine even though I’m a rare visitor.
Ok, there we go.
Can’t have my original name so…
I can’t wait for Protector. I’ll have to request it at my library.
Hi Joel2c! Now you’re in, you can change the name it shows here to anything you like. Log in, then up in the righthand corner it says “Howdy, (name)”. If you click on there you can choose ‘Edit my profile’. There you can put any name you want to be known by here in ‘Display name publicly as’.
That way you don’t get stuck with unwieldy tags because there are more people with your prefered name on gravatar already.
Done I believe…
And thanks!
Although it was a while back, I do remember that all it really took was registering my dragon jpg with gravatar.com, and then it automatically appeared here, as noted previously. It initially threw me a bit because that is different in that most sites who have that function on their own website versus getting it from some site like gravatar. But it works just fine, and if I ever run across another site using gravator.com, I’ll be good to go! 🙂
Sign-up and the GRAVATAR just appears. Note that the association is based on the email address that you give the sites. My GRAVATAR follows me to sites where my sign-in ID is not Sgt Saturn.
Ok, I found my way to your blog site from Jacki’s FB page. Hope I got logged in correctly as I am Not computer literate. Thank you for the invite.
Welcome!
