The weather has hit a giant ‘wallow’, where nothing is happening, and the usual culprits, aka, the jet stream et al, have run scampering off.

Here’s your link: it never minds links in comments: makes you jump through hoops in the posts—dunno why!

CJ did you hear the news about J K Rowling? She is following your lead and created her own website and is selling her eBooks herself. She was lucky/smart enough to retain her digital rights. There is a lot of turmoil in the industry of what this will mean of course. Could tip the scales back toward the authors a bit. I found a good site here that talks about it. http://www.thepassivevoice.com/
A shame the rest of us don’t have a ‘name’ to get some notice. It’s hard to draw attention out there! But good for her. I always like to see someone doing well with epublication!
check out this little vid – it’s only advertising, but it’s so pretty with all the paper cutout animation … http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/jun/23/pottermore-website-jk-rowling-harry-potter
Interesting weather stuff. I’m just tired of worrying about flooding. So I’ve stopped. It’s like the last thing I think about now, as long ad the levees hold out.
I’m hoping that for the next couple of weeks (at least) the weather remains stable so the Space Shuttle can launch without incident! I have a vested interest; I was fortunate enough to get tickets to see the launch from Kennedy Space Center.
Russ just sent me this link of to a video of the flooding just south of me:

Ack. We drive through there all the time. That’s just awful!
TERRIBLE! I hear that evacuations are continuing. Hope all goes well for you.
Thanks for the link, Zette. Weekend plan to go home to Lincoln from KC is cancelled due to I29 flooding. Alternate route through Kansas not advised, per my dad, as everyone is trying to find a way around the water, and traffic is bumper to bumper. And more dam releases and rain coming. *pouty face*
This flooding will continue until September. It will be a long time before the roads are ready for traffic again, I suspect. This is going to do a lot of damage.
I suspect Highway 77 up to Lincoln is going to be heavily traveled right now. 75 is too close to the river still, I think, and might not be a good route. 81 up to York and then east on I80 would be the best bet, and I80 isn’t going to be any worse than usual. The farther west you can go to hight I80 I would think the less of the I29 traffic you would get. I would think a lot of North/South traffic would be shifting over to I25 if they can.
But yeah, it’s a real mess on all levels. The towns all along the Missouri are going to suffer for this for quite a while.
We seem to have finally got out from under the high pressure bubble that had stagnated over us for weeks. Perhaps that’s what’s affecting your weather right now. But your position would tend to resolve stagnant weather pockets. Here’s hoping you’ll get better weather soon.
Personal ambitions aside, I hope that everyone in the afflicted areas along the Mississippi/Missouri Basin stays high and dry until the flooding is over!
And now, I’m contemplating a filk of “La Bamba” about “La Nada”…
We had quite a storm tonight:

It got worse. I didn’t stay to get more vid, though. LOL
