Upper respiratory infection, with possible eye infection, possibly because Spokane is having nasty pollen at the moment and both Ysabel and I share allergies. So…….bless the vet, who took her back in (they’re having a crisis; their ac is out) and was very happy I had brought her back. This upper respiratory crud really had manifested bigtime since her vet visit yesterday, as in yesterday evening. She’s negative on the passengers from Eushu: both she and Eushu are clear of those. And possibly she caught kitten-crud from him and has just been having a quiet bout of it until the stress of the visit where she thought she would find Efanor. The emotional crash threw her lower gut into a tizzy, and gave free rein to the infection she’d almost thrown off. So she got a nice shot of cefalexawhatever and a tube of stuff that should help the eye discomfort as well as mopping up any eye infection. An optometrist once explained to me that the eye is kind of a closed system, and you can’t take pill that’s going to help an eye infection. So that’s why the separate med, I guess. At any rate, she’s had her shot of anticrud juice, I’ve got the tube of eye medicine, and she was really very even keel. This is a small vet office in a 1930’s era shopping strip, but they get a lot of business, and they’re good. Ysabel has had a different vet than Eushu’s, since she’s been in on a crisis situation, no time to be picky, and Eushu has had two different ones, due to when we had to bring him in on one occasion; and we like all of them really well, and so do the cats, which is a first.
Next vet report. Fairly good news. Really good news, actually.

Hallelujah! I was scared (and I’m sure you and Jane were as well) that this would be a serious, potentially deadly illness. I am happy to hear that HRH is under control and mending.
This is execllent news! I’m really relieved!
Oh! What year did you leave Oklahoma? I think I took a lovely little picture of Ysabel right before you left. The only way I can possibly hunt it down is to know the year.
2000. Around May. 😉
Very glad to hear good news for Ysabel and a good checkup for Eushu. Sorry, though, that Ysabel had expected a good visit and was disappointed and depressed. Bless her furry self for being a Romantic…with a good right hook, lol.
A third kitty to balance the two sounds good, if you can find the right fine for the job. There’s the tough part. Best wishes on it. Maybe you’ll find the ideal one who’ll be as happy with his/her new home and family as Eushu is.
And i have a feeling Wye and Eu will have their strong opinions on the matter.
A triplet…one might think of stshoshi complexities. Stsho dating must be tough!
Simpler with a feline crew and human crewmates. But na Shu is still earning his first voyage-ring.
My two were rowdy todY, but enjoying themselves. (Maybe a little too much enjoyment. Wonder what I’ll find tomorrow!)
Best wishes.
We have found a gentlekitteh with the right qualifications, we hope. He’s in Montana and we’re going to go get him, now that Ysabel is doing all right. I’m kind of trepidatious about this and hopeful at the same time—trepidatious because bringing another younger kitteh in on Ysabel isn’t what I’d ever planned, and I hope this is not a towering mistake, but hopeful, too, that we can get a buffer between her and Shu’s rowdy need for speed. If this fellow can play with Shu, bat him down when he needs it, and remain a gentleman, we hope it will work…
I have friends who did it the other way around: they took in a kitten who plays with their (considerably older) grubby gentleman. Herm can tolerate being pounced on (and he grabs back), and he can certainly deal with still-exuberant-at-two Franky.
I suspect another younger kitten to keep Shu busy might be exactly what you need right now, though this may take them both by surprise. Good luck!
2000. I can’t even remember what camera I was using back then, but I’ll go hunt through the disks and see what I can come up with!
How do Ysabel’s eyes look tonight?
The morning after: Physically she’s better, purring and happy and hungry: 2nd dose of her eye meds this morning and the haw is still half up and she’s light-sensitive, but she’ll sleep well today: she has nothing to do but nap in her sunbeams while we go off and get Big Brother.
So very glad to hear that Ysabel is getting better. I have been holding my breath when opening WWaS the last few days. It sounds like a corner has been turned HUZZAH! So! I am not the only one who shares eye problems with a kitteh. My doc explained that not only is the eye a closed system it is also the most exposed to infection, pollen. KikiLaSois’s vet gave me the same explanation. 😮
Looking forward to hearing more about the gentlekitteh.
good luck!
So very happy to hear both that Ms. Ysabel is better and Big Brother will join the household. Banichi Kitten (10 mos.) is a great buffer between Pascal (the quiet spy) and Houdini (Mob hitman, who just turned two). Pascal used to be doing his rusty-can-opener growl at Houdini on a daily basis from under either the dresser or the bed.
Peace will happen, eventually. Looking forward to photos.
What a relief! So glad to hear Ysabel is purring again. And Big Brother may be just what the household needs.
Pictures on the way! I hope you like them.
looking forward to hearing about Big Brother/Shue interaction … and so pleased to hear Ysabel doing so much better …
