Thank you, IanRH!
Thank you for these updates. I really enjoy reading your updates and browsing the other pages of this website. It’s so rare we run into published authors who actually create communities rather than hide behind publishing house websites!
@bostonmargy, if you’d like to see CJ’s and Jane’s “community”, you should attend a ShejiCon. It’s a ball and you get to meet, talk with, have dinner with, go places with the authors & publishers of Closed Circle.
One of the wonderful things about the sf community at large is that we love to get together and talk…sf cons, weird and wonderful; and clubs; and parties; etc.
I made up my mind, seeing some of my older colleagues falling behind the new computer technology, that I was going to run to catch up, get involved with the internet, and keep that community going. SF is a tricksy literature, full of puzzles and questions, and it thrives on being able to talk about it…and about life, the universe, and everything, as Mr. Adams so aptly put it. I want to keep that alive.
And it’s proven a very good thing: nobody back in the 80’s expected the near-collapse of the book industry in the 2010’s. Of all the things we predicted—and we did predict electronic books—we did not predict that there would be so much culture shock in the industry. But here it is.
So here we are—and we encourage everybody to invite your friends, pass the links around, and stay with us. We’re going to be one big continual convention: we won’t always be on-topic, but we’ll hope that people will get to know one another and feel at home here.
And you do it so well. Thanks to you and Jane for all the effort…
It’s effort, but it’s fun, too.
Thank you so much for the mention, CJ! Dragon Moon Press is flattered to be of note. 🙂
