A few notes. 1. This is still the older file. It still has warts. We’re busy loading the REAL shelves of our e-store and we actually hope to have it open maybe this weekend. When we do offer a freebie book, we will not offer the abbreviated download file (the minime files have only mobi, pdf, epub) but only the big one: this is due to the constraints of our software when we are not using Paypal. All for-pay buttons will have a choice.
I’m going to be spending at least part of the day loading the files in. The rest I’ll either be writing on the new Foreigner book or cleaning up some of the book files. It’s a good day to be indoors: it’s 1 degree out there. McMurdo base in Antarctica was 35 yesterday. We are officially pretty cold out there.
That comment about Antarctica put it in perspective!

This is the weather forecast for Scott-Amundsen base (the south pole.)
Bring it up every time you feel too miserable: remember—this is summer down there!
Hi C.J. 🙂
I do the same thing when it very hot, I recall the winter days and the longing for heat.
Thank you very much for you & Jane joining Twitter.

Happy Holidays,

delighted that you nudged us. Thank you.
CJ, I finally got brave and had the time to read everything very closely and download volume 1 of the blog. I even managed to get the Mobi reader to get it all and can read it. But I just can’t figure which of the multi-list of unzipped files is the Mobi — can I delete most of these? I don’t see much reason to have several copies of something that I really don’t need. Sorry for being so plebian, but I’m really rather helpless with a lot of the mechanics involving computers 🙁
SUre. NO problem. My advice would be, however, once we have the new version download ready, to take the whole thing and store it on a dvd as it came, as a zip file. That way it’s yours forever, and if you ever acquire a non-mobi reader, chances are, something in that package will handle the situation. On a dvd it takes up little room, and it’s there if you ever need it or if your disk crashes (heaven forfend.)
As far as what you need for a mobi reader, or for your computer, the one file that has the .prc extension is the mobi file, and you don’t need anything else on your hard disk.
Hey, I didn’t know what a mobi file was 6 months ago. 😉
Hey, Carolyn…you’re gonna shoot me, but do you think we should include a little “readme.txt” file in with the zipped files identifying the file types? i.e. Mobi/Kindle, use PRC, Sony, use…etc. Just a thought. Might be polite, since we’re trying to build the ebook readership.
Sob. You write it. I’ll tuck it in. But we do have that as part of the text in the Catalog’s intro. Y’ s’pose anyone will read it? Nobody ever reads prologues…
