…got hit in the other eye today by a mini-model plane. Sometimes it’s just your week. But we think she’s fine, and she says she’s showing no ill effects.
Thank you all for your expressions of concern.
I’m being driven slowly crazy by allergy: even wearing glasses, teary eyes spatter the lenses with salt. It’s fire season in the Pacific NW.
It’s allergy season for me in the UK as well. Fungal spores apparently. Not too bad (and at least I don’t get allergies over the summer) but it makes one of my eyelids twitch which is annoying.
With all the problems humans get with Earth-based plant life you really do have to wonder what’s going to happen if/when we reach an alien biosphere.
You get a few years” grace when you move to a new environment. THEN you start twitching.
Like that poor botanist in “Foreigner” who was stuck inside being a guinea pig while the other members of the team tried to remember how to find out what he was allergic to and how to treat it.
On allergies: If you’ve tried everything else, you might want to consider Ayurveda, the ancient Indian system of natural health care. I’ve been using it for many years with excellent results.
Ayurveda has a very common-sense, practical approach to health. It also focuses on treating causes, rather than just symptoms. On the other hand, you usually have to do something yourself, rather than just swallowing medicines.
Often the recommendations are simple changes in diet and lifestyle, with minimal cost. However, it really does work, and tends to provide a far better long-term solution than conventional medicine.
See the following article about the Ayurvedic understanding of allergies and approach to treatment by Nancy Lonsdorf M.D. (Johns Hopkins and Stanford).

It’s very interesting, and not difficult to try.
Good luck!

There are also several other articles about other conditions.
I miss fire season. But I imagine you don’t miss allergy season.

Poor Jane! Where did this happen? Did she keep the plane as a reminder? Did she find her eye drops? OSG mentioned on FB that Jane couldn’t find her drops. I hope she’s found them.
I don’t envy anyone with allergies. OTOH, I do like the smell of wood smoke, but only if it’s in a controlled environment, such as a stove, fireplace, or properly situated campfire. Now, when the rainy season starts, do you have to worry about molds and mildew allergies?
Hope everyone gets better quickly!
A run down to Harbor Freight for their $3.00 safety glasses before the 3rd occurrence completes the cycle might be in order.
Jane is running out of eyes to damage O_o Take care!
Just don’t get anything in that third eye.
Best wishes for a safer weekend.
I hope Jane’s okay, please give her my regards.
Marah says it’s more likely to be in an accident on the way to the model airport than it would be to be in an accident with a model plaine.
Jane thanks you all!
Good for her! Did she find her eyedrops? Is she ready to start updating her blog? What did she do with the mini model airplane? Is it permanently on display on a shelf in the house? Why is there air? If I want to sent a letter to someone in New Mexico, do I have to pay extra postage? I could go on with more dumb questions, but I only know those 2.
These things run in threes, Jane needs to be on her guard for a few more days. j/k I hope. Sending good vibes her way.
This just in! It’s Jane’s birthday! Many, many wishes for a felicitous day, and for many, many more to come! Will you be able to splurge just this one day? Swinging Door? Tomato Street? Steam Plant Grill? or maybe just order in a pepperoni pizza for Carolyn and yourself. 😉
