Can’t skate on Sunday? Bummer!
Well, we could, but the kids in rentals have usually ground it to snow, and on crowded ice it’s also very hard to skate a pattern, which is what we like to do. Those rental skates really tear up the ice…well, not to mention the habits of small children, who like to dig deep pits in it, while kneeling in the path of hockey skaters who never look backwards, with no helmets and with their mittened little fingers exposed to blades that could take fingers off… parents, I tell you! It’s terrifying! For the sake of my bloodpressure, I prefer weekdays!
Indeed. I was afraid it might be like that. My feet are so wide I could never fit rental skates so my total time on the ice is measured in minutes – Painful Minutes. It sounds hair-raising and much more crowded than I remember the rink in my town growing up. However, that rink was in the Balmy South (well, a little North of DC) and I suspect there’s not nearly as much skating here as where you are.
