WE luvs it!
We have the snowblower ready.
The pipes are winter-safe.
The hoses are in.
The garden figurines are in.
The apple is pruned.
And we’re ready for it to be a pretty blanket, if only it will.

Still quite warm here, but we may get a dip down near 40 in the next few days. — But last week, we had one day with the projected high of 89. Not sure if it reached it. 89 in December, I don’t know if it’s an actual record or not, but it sure was odd.
Enjoy the cold and maybe the snow!
My brain almost wanted to read that as, “the horses are in.” — And that reminded me of Seeking North, which I hope might get going again at some point.
A few groceries tomorrow, including cheese and veggies, I’m in the mood to fix Ratatouille…sans sours….
“sans souris” — wretched auto-incorrect, messing with my questionable comedic timing / bad puns. 🙂
what, no mice?
Alas, our snow quit. But we still have hope!
Right, should’ve been, “Ratatouille…sans souris,” a pun on the recent movie and the names. 😉 The movie’s really cute, worth a rental if you haven’t seen it. Nice attention to French culture, cooking, critics versus artists, Ratatouille, and, well, mice!
I think the eggplant and squash I got last week should still be good. I remembered to get the other ingredients today. So probably this evening, there should be freshly made Ratatouille. I first prepped it as a Christmas holiday dish, which would up being a meal in itself. So now it feels like a holiday season dish to me. Loved it.
Also — I saw “Campbell’s Skillet” sauce packets today. I must’ve been living under a rock, first time I’d noticed them. I got one to try: Creamy Chipotle, mmm. Liquid sauce pouches, store in the pantry instead of fridge. A bit pricey at $2 per packet, won’t do that often. But thought it’d be nice to try.
I’ll want to look for pre-blended herbes de Provence. I found a McCormick spice packet, after a friend said he and his wife had really liked it. How I’ve gone this long without fixing chicken aux herbes de Provence, I don’t know, 🙂 but that is likely to be Christmas dinner, if I don’t decide on ham instead.
Gotta get egg nog next week, I forgot again!
We love Ratatoille. 😉 I’m a great fan of Hell’s Kitchen. And love to cook.
And we are heading into Summer here in New Zealand. Today, unfortunately, was not Summer weather. Persistent heavy rain and a high, if we were lucky, of 12C – is that about 54F. Funnily enough we had a high of 30C – 90F last Sunday. Well at least it’s not snowing here, though they did forecast it for the Peninsula a couple of weeks ago. I always think of Ilisidi’s comment in Inheritor when we have lousy weather in Spring and early Summer “Lovely Weather…………Spring on the Coast.” Because we are coastal. About 7 miles from the East Coast.
Lol! How’s your volcano doing? Have you gotten any ashfall where you are? When we dug the pond, we discovered our place had gotten about 4″ of (now-compacted) ashfall from Mt. St. Helens back in the big explosion: that will have been about half a foot at least before it was loaded with dirt atop, and we’re about 300 miles downwind: we only got the light powdery stuff. It formed a nice waterproof cap on our lawn under a 6″ coating of new dirt, which was why, despite a lawn sprinkler, grass never would grow. It’s WHY we thought of putting a pond there, so it’s all to the good.
Good luck with the snow. Should make the air feel crisp and clean, for a while at least. Does that keep the allergies down?
We’re in the high 70s here but 40-something predicted for Monday.
A bit further south than bakayaro onna, but our weather’s the same, 70’s and 80’s during the day, 50’s and 60’s at night. It’s supposed to dip down into the 40’s at night over the next few days. I hope so.
Mt Tongariro and Mt Ruapehu are in the North Island and we live in the South Island. Its earthquakes and after shocks we are still experiencing from our February ’11 shake. Interesting about the ash though, the pond makes the ground not letting anything grow well worth it. The photo galleries on Harmonies are lovely even if the pond involves a lot of work. Makes a nice creative outlet away from writing to give your brains some down time to keep creating the wonderful worlds you write.
Last night we were tent camping with temperatures in the low 40s — that is as cool as I like it if I’m outdoors for any length of time. Tonight it may get to 17 degrees in KC. Time to break out the down coat and sheepskin hat. Thanks for the reminder to disconnect and empty the hoses 😀
