I had to take Jane in for her mandated endoscopy: it took forever–and somebody had to be there to drive her home because of the sedation.
So I walk in when it’s over, and she’s semi-awake. Asked me more than once “What time is it?”
If you don’t know how funny that is, there’s a book you should read.
But she knew where you were, which makes all the difference.
Best wishes for a full recovery from that flu-ish bug you’ve been describing.
That’s really really funny:) I am sure she had no idea of it. How life does imitate art.
Isn’t Versed just the most wonderful mood enhancer?
She must have been finding time heavy on her hands 🙂
Did you lock her in the shower and leave it on cycle? Or just tape her to the pipes? 😀
Time passes slowly when you would rather be elsewhere?
And for those of you who haven’t read it, Heavy Time. Dekker’s question, which makes him the person you’d least like to be locked in a space capsule with…. 😉
Those are among a long list of my favorite books by my favorite sf author. No names because I don’t want to appear to be currying favor.
lol!
If Jane has to have lengthy dental procedure, may I recommend nitrous oxide? It’s not the pain that gets me. I have this thing about the noise the drill makes. Affects me the same way as squeaking chalk on a blackboard or a knife squeaking on china. Just toe curling. I bring my MP3 player, plug it in my ears, and the dentist turns on the nitrous oxide, and we’re good to go. I have more root canals than I have live teeth, so needless to say, I’m an old hand at it. At the end of the procedure, the dentist turns on the straight oxygen, which you breathe for a couple of minutes, and you’re fine.
I have them put me out any more. One incident of a blood pressure spike of 200/150 from terror made me decide that being awake is not good for me. Normal at the time was 112/60.
Just crawl inside, hunker down and bundle up, there’s a storm’s a-comin’. 😉
there’s a storm’s a-comin’. 😉 ; Remember that from the closing scenes of Serenity.
And speaking of Hot Pilots, I remember Heavy Time, too; that was a ‘verse ago. Good job Decker turned out to be such a Hot Shot pilot in Hellburner
