Do check it out. Our inventory is down to 12 now, out of 25, and we have also put the other hardbound and paperbound physical books on sale, too …I’d like my faithful blog readers to have first jump on this. These will be signed, personalized to whatever person you specify, and sent. By CC policy, if you buy more than one of these books, we combine them into one package to do postage in the most economical way we can figure and refund the excess back to your Paypal account.
If you want one of our hardbound books—CJ personally has some copies for sale…

I went to CC to order a signed copy of Intruder (I have 2 HC of each of the other volumes – one I read and one I save so when the first volume wears out I still can re-read the book). Then I decided to try to order signed bookplates for the first 12 books, but it said the limit was 9. I reduced the number to 9, but when I went to check out, the price only included one bookplate. Not sure what I am doing wrong. Also, I have never used Paypal – do you need an account? If so, do I just use manual and enter a credit card number? I feel so technologically illiterate.
The limit is weird. We did find it had been set in as a ‘download’ when it’s physical, and that could have screwed it up.
Meanwhile I’ll reorder the basic plates (I have to send for them and restock my supply: I’m nearly out—but I have your 12.)
None of your orders ‘took’ , ie, didn’t register or leave any record, because you didn’t complete a Paypal transaction, but you don’t need a Paypal account to do that: you can go all the way through their hoops declining to open an account, until you finally get the option to use a credit card.
Or you can just send us a physical check to the post office box given on CC and also up above under ‘Contact us”—I never can remember that box number. Unlike Bren, I am rotten at remembering numbers.
I’ve sent you an e-mail.
Heh. Why does the little black creature (I assume it’s Cajeiri’s new ‘pet’) on the cover make me think of Dinner? As long as it stays out of the ductwork.
Chondrite, I did think of dinner as well as you….
I got my copy forwarded to my temporary duty address, and it arrived on Tuesday afternoon. I finished the first read through (reading for the excitement) yesterday, and will soon start the “reading for comprehension.”
Sorry about the mixup. I need you to delete and ignore the manual order (I also responded to the email with request to delete that order). I did a second order through Paypal so you’ll get your $ immediately without having to do a trip to the bank. (And so I’ll get the book sooner!) Again, apologies for the confusion. *blushes*
I’m not to Intruder yet, but as to kifish Dinner, I always pictured them as some skinny, tough, flexible little vermin, sort of like rats, only black, black fur or hides, and probably long skinny snouts and tails. It was that, or some strange thing like a flatcat or tribble, only with four stubby and hyper legs/feet, and a very angry little mouth with sharp teeth. Any “kifish life” seems to be, both to kif minds and hani minds, “kifish life,” tough and ornery, persistent and, apparently, at least with Dinner, fecund.
However, I noticed the hani were annoyed but unbowed by the little pests. Sometimes, being a fierce hani crewwoman, a hunter in her own right and well armed by nature, can have its advantages, methinks.
One suspects Tully might even have a go at them if he had to. Hmm, come to think of it, possibly he did, though I don’t recall mention.
What? Not that I’d be campaigning shamelessly for more Chanur (or Compact generally) stories. Qui, moi?
You bet your breeches and golden rings! 😀
OK, more of Invader tonight. And Intruder is due to arrive on my doorstep about Saturday. The ebook has already arrived safely at my computer and iPad2.
P.S. — I did a little guerrilla marketing this week, with a couple of quotes from Bren on the nature of demonstration of fools and of the, “You are the second. Welcome to politics.” most concise quote, yet full of so much meaning.
Also loved the first appearance of green sauce pizza. 😉
I thought something like rats too. Compact of build, certainly–long legs are subject to breakage. Dinner ran rather than rolled. Can’t see how a tribble would be able to move fast enough, though “born pregnant”, something like fig wasps? Kif jaws are something like Moray Eels’.
Did Pyanfar ever open the Pride to hard vacuum to get rid of them? At one point before Skkukuk left they just stopped being mentioned, though until then they seemed to get everywhere and anywhere. How could he have not missed one in some ductwork?
I really, really want this book! I think there might be a problem with the order form? Help!
I got it to work! Yay! Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Just a couple days after my birthday, too, so this makes a GREAT present to me. (grin)
i ordered my copy of Intruder! paid via Paypal, got all the confirmation emails including the announcement about more than one book shipping and the ship date.
so it seems to be working as intended, at least for me !
When I first saw the Intruder cover, the expression on the creature’s face immediately made me think of fierce chittering, wildlife. I then immediately jumped to Dinner, although previously I had thought of Dinner as smaller, rat-like critters. I guess it’s just the look on its face. I’ll save the rest of my comments until April so they won’t be spoilers.
