We think it will send you to your own dashboard. From there, just hit the WAVE in the dark grey header and you should instantly get where you thought you were going.
If you should mistakenly get sent to the admin dashboard, do let us know.

um – actually, that’s the way this system has ALWAYS behaved for me. I come here, hit ‘login’, do the login thingie, and it takes me to my ‘dashboard’ and I have to click on the ‘Save without a Shore’ banner in the header, and presto here I am again. It’s been doing that since the beginning. You mean it’s supposed to have been doing something different?
me too!
Well, it should have been sending you to the comments page—I thought. I tell you, running ‘admin’ on a WP site is an adventure—sort of like running a ROV on the sea floor. I push buttons and they tell me thus and such will happen for the members, but I can’t ever ‘see’ it happen. I get my avatar by a special function—and I can’t help members get their avatars, because I have no window on that process. I get certain things when I push buttons that members don’t get, but I have no idea what they get instead, or if those buttons appear at all, or in a different form.
But I’m glad it’s working as it should I booted 20 bot-registrations yesterday morning, and this morning, with that little registration blank addition, all we had was one real new member! Hurrah!
annoying! Of course, without knowing what a site SHOULD be doing, it’s hard to know when it’s doing something it SHOULDN’T. (sorry for the typo – WAVE Wave wave – I really CAN spell, really).
😆 It is! But we does the bestest we can…
I’ve always been passed back to the right URL, and right now, I don’t have the spoons to log out and try again. I lost my Twitter cookie this morning, and now the new! improved! Twitter is barring its doors to me. I did all the troubleshooting on my side, and I’m *still* logged out.
If you want to know what users experience, just create a user, give them no privileges, and have a play around.
Seconding green_knight. It’s handy to have another log-in.
I second Agricola’s comment. The site is working the way it always did for me.
It’s working the way it always does for me, too.
Thanks, people, we are greatly relieved! And thanks to David, we have stemmed the flood of register-bots! Not a one today! That’s 15 more minutes I can spend on writing.
I just hate to see people struggle with technology.
Hmm. Same as always–from login page back to the comments section of the thread I want to comment in.
When I log in I get the profile page with the banner, and the banner takes me to the main journal page. This is what has always happened for me. I also open the login page in a new tab, though, and then refresh the page I was on after logging in, so that may be why the banner has always taken me to the main journal page if/when I click it.
I can still log in, which is good 🙂
I’ve also always been redirected to the settings page, and still am.
Anyway, I enjoy reading here very much. The next foreigner book is on pre-order, but for the time being, I’m here…
Log in works the same here, direct to comments. I used to go to dashboard when I logged in at C&L; now it also goes directly to comments.
Maybe it looks just a bit like the admin dashboard to some because amongst the default boxes are “Right now” with a link to Akismet’s spam queue (access denied when you click that though), “incoming links”, “WordPress development blog”, and “WordPress News”… No idea how to change that for users, though – the last time I tried to admin a WordPress installation, I didn’t get the system at all and messed everything up…
Thanks for the welcome in the other thread, by the way 🙂
One wonders what those far less ethical than the present company could do with unattributed alter egos seeding their blogs.
