I’m perhaps a third of the way through Swords and Dark Magic, and it’s great fun. So far, it appears there’s something for just about anybody. The intro article by the editors was a nice survey of S&S and “epic fantasy’s” roots. I’m now curious to read Fafhrd and the Grey Mouse. CJ’s story is outstanding. Each has been a mix, lots of creativity, so that it all seems fresh. I haven’t read fantasy in a while, and this has been just the thing. …Now how do you fit today’s geek/nerd techno-happy suburban guy into a sword and sorcery story? I have a feeling most of us would be scrambling.
CJ, the link doesn’t work!
Cut and paste the addy and you can read it.
Try this: http://www.sfsignal.com/archives/2010/07/mind-meld-what-sword-and-sorcery-means-to-me/
For some reason, doing a link in the original post is a bear and a half.
oh, stupid me, I’m sorry!!! thanks so much CJ …
No problem. 🙂 It’s a crazy thing about posts versus comments. I forgot…
