I’ve been following the reports—know some of the territory involved. The Estes Park region, the I-25 corridor we use at least once a year. These are familiar names to us… We know we have people near 25.
Hope everybody is ok.

I’m not near I-25, but where I am in the Sacramento Mountains east of Alamogordo was hammered a couple of hours ago by a vry dense, slow moving cell that dumped 4-5+ inches in areas. Several canyons have blown out, at least one house swept away, and they’ve evacuated numerous homes. As I type the wall of water is rushing down the canyon, passing the house heading for the Rio Penasco (I’m way up high 6/10 mile off the canyon).
I was lucky as I was driving home, I just made it through the area where the worse flooding hit right before the wall of mud and water came off the cut bank, I could see it in my rear view mirror.
Wow, that’s close. Hope you and all those you know keep high and dry… and safe!
I have a blog friend who lives in North Platte, Neb, which is in between the North and South Platte rivers, right where they join up. They’ve already started getting some of the Colorado mess. At noon today the South Platte river was up 2.7+ feet. Expecting a flood crest of 9.6 feet. The nursing home where her dad is, is right by the river, and they’ll be evacuating it. My friend and her husband just moved to a new house earlier this year. It’s on the north side of town. Hopefully, they (and their cats) will be OK. She adopted a kitten who was up inside the engine of someone’s car. The car owner didn’t know the kitten was there and started the car. She took over care of the kitten from the vet, who didn’t expect it to live, but she was able to save it. The poor darling lost all four feet, but can still get around OK. The cat is 8 or 9 years old now, and is doted upon. Not the first injured cat she’s nursed back to health. I know what a struggle she and her husband went through to be able to buy that house, and what a Godsend it’s been for them. Hopefully, they won’t get much if any flooding where they are.
