With chicken parmesan Caesar salad. I managed to burn the last piece of bread this morning (Jane and I split a piece for breakfast) so it was quesadillas for breakfast (leftovers.) Oh—crap!
It should be done, and I forgot to add the yeast. That’s going to be a monument. We’re going to change the menu tonight. I can’t believe I did that!
Well, revise that. Stirfry tonight. Scrambled eggs for breakfast. New try at bread tomorrow.
One night, I fixed tuna noodle casserole for my family while I was home on leave. Everything was fine, until I realized that there WAS NO TUNA!!!! To this day, I still get ragged about it from my mother. If I fix it for myself, she always asks if I put the tuna in. First thing, now, Mom.
Lol! Well, I tossed some in and kneaded it with an hour and a half to go on the machine’s program. Lord only knows what will happen. The dough was great, silky and just right—except no yeast. This is far from the optimum procedure!
I just had a dinner “disaster” (a 1.0 on the scale of things) and gave up and ordered a pizza. (They didn’t have any green sauce, though.)
Far as I’m concerned, as long as the fe-lions are fed, I can handle just about anything else.
🙂
It didn’t rise. I just turned the machine off. It’s nasty. 😉
Jane has requested chili/spaghetti because she needs the can to clean her brushes in. 😉 Since this is her favorite, I’m not sure it’s all about brushes.
One is familiar with cans used for such. Also the little pimiento and baby food jars for paint medium such as linseed oil.
I am on strike for anything involving work for at least 24 hours. But it’s just the cats and myself, so rice may still get cooked. There are leftovers in the fridge, so it’s all good. Probably will cook tomorrow.
Condolences on the unleavened loaf of bread. I believe that translates into “brick” or “paving stone,” yes? 😉
Hmm, of Joe’s tuna-less tuna-noodle casserole, one is reminded of the beef and peppers without any beef, from Cowboy Bebop. — I haven’t fixed a tuna casserole in ages. Sounds good also. It all sounds good. But Ih iz tired. (Hmm. Taaeerd. Taird, Teird, Tiird. Tiyrd? …Doesn’t quite lend itself to lolspeak, and English has trouble with long I and such, phonetic-spelling-wise…. One is over-analyzing again. Possibly, Bren’s a distant relative’s descendant?)
I made quiche one night and forgot to put in the cheese! Did not realize it until I too quiche out of the oven and saw the cheese on the counter. Mixed cheese with a small amount of flour , spread it on top and stuck it under the broiler on my lowest oven shelf. Saved! But cooking habits changed when prepping dinner after high stress days. (Well, actually Proge took over on those days.)
I like to do pasta with caramelized onions, a sharp swiss and sardines instead of tuna.
I’ve gotten into the habit of doing giant salads for dinner a couple of nights a week. If I buy a roast chicken, I make giant chicken sandwiches first, then peel the last of the flesh from the carcass and limbs and save it to deploy over the salad. I can make a spinach salad with shredded lowfat cheese, baby carrots, and leftover chicken or steak in about 5 minutes.
Does your bread machine have a matzoh attachment? — LOL! I do a cold tuna salad with elbow macaroni sometimes = with chopped Kosher dills, chopped white onion (gasp!) and mayo. Major delish to have a scoop of it on top of a quartered tomato. It’s a big favorite with the kitties, too, as they get a spoon of tuna each out of the deal. (Major NUMS!) My mom used to make “tuna on toast” (AKA “SOS”) with tuna and English peas cooked in a white sauce. She would also “extend” a can of Wolf Brand Chili with beans by adding pasta (usually either bowtie or elbow) and get four servings out of it. Come to think of it, I’ve got leftovers from a batch of it in the fridge now.
