report from BCS, thank you. Btw, audible works on kindles, pcs, macs, smartphones and devices powered by android and the like. A nice audiobook makes long drives shorter.

One of my favorite books, now on Audible! Thank you!
After a bit of argument with the software, which had gone wonky, I believe I’m only one more step away from getting Audible’s recording of Downbelow Station onto my iPad for listening off the computer.
Hi! This is my first comment here – is this how it works? Apologies for commenting on a years-old post, and let me know if I should avoid doing that. I was just looking for some audiobook info.
My question is: are the audiobooks sold anywhere that’s Linux-compatible? Sadly Audible.com isn’t, so I haven’t been able to get them so far. (It was an unfortunate surprise – I can listen to their samples just fine, but can’t listen to the books in my Audible library online after I buy them!) I’ve been buying a lot of SF/fantasy audiobooks from Downpour.com recently (they let me download plain mp3s, which will work anywhere) – having my favorite author available from a site like that would make me very happy. Alternatively, is it possible to buy them on CD/DVD anywhere?
Audible is it. Sorry that it is a problem. If you google ‘linux listening device for audible’ you will find a number of solutions available, but I don’t know which might be the good ones.
Ah well, thanks for the answer! I tried some of the solutions last year and couldn’t get anything to work, but maybe it’s worth another try.
@Paul is a Linux user and may have a useful answer.
Audible has apps for IPad and iPhone (any iOS device) ad for Android devices (smart phones and tablets).
Audible also can download to a Windows PC or a Mac computer. — I’d be surprised if they don’t have a Linux alternative, these days.
Sorry I don’t know the answer right offhand, but I’d be interested to know too.

Off-Topic: Audible seems to have moved their process for how to apply to become a reader (narrator, voice actor) for Audible. I will have to find that also, as I’m interested in applying.
Aha, trying it on my phone may be a decent way to go. Once I get a new phone, anyway.
They don’t have a Linux alternative according to their help info (the only thing that shows up when I search Help for Linux is “Linux users do not have the ability to use the Audible Cloud Player at this time”), and last year when I actually got an account and talked to customer service when it turned out I couldn’t use it, they also told me they didn’t support it.
The other issue with all this is that I’d have to open an account again to try out any of the solutions, and I’m not sure if I can get a second free trial, since they already refunded me for the first one last year. Ah well, I’ll deal with it all eventually.
