It’s really on the 20th, but we screwed up the Crater Lake trip when Ysabel got sick. So we promised OSG, (we were all going) a birthday lunch. And we were so disorganized we just planned on us, because that was the track our minds were running on; and then we happened to talk to Joan (our skating coach,) and invited her. And Joan told Stacey and Terry it was going, and our friends, bless ’em, are good and know we’re not standoffish: THEY called us one after the other and said, “Where is this party?” So we kept calling the restaurant and enlarging the reservation. And we had a good party and ate too much, and all was well with the universe. All of us have been off the ice too long and are looking to get back into action.
Celebrated OSG’s b’day yesterday…

Sometimes impromptu parties are the best!
More Hippo Birdies to OSG! Because you can never have too many of either! 😆
We had a wonderful time, sitting on the open patio, overlooking the river, and catching up on each other’s lives.
Of course, we don’t gossip but like to sit close to those who do 😉
Thank you again for a delightful party! BTW, you missed the two older ladies approaching me in the parking lot — they wanted to take photos of my shoes.
I would like to see the photos they took of your shoes, OSG? or perhaps you could bring them on your next trip east? (and happy belated birthday here).
I haven’t a clue who the ladies are that took pic — but the shoes were also photographed during our party. I haven’t seen that pic yet myself.
Thank you for your felicitations!
An auspicious day. OSG’s true birthday and humans walk on the Moon in 1969. We’re glad you had a great time at your party. Was it at Anthony’s?
Yes, at Anthony’s, on the open patio and overlooking the falls — which were in full glory. The sound of the water was amazing. My friends are amazing! I was so happily shocked when I arrived and found *everyone* there!
FWIW, I thought it was ironic that the last space shuttle landed a day after my birthday.
Where is the next ShejiCon? Did someone say something about it being held at WorldCon in Chicago next year? If so, I have to start making plans! I promised Jane I’d write a song about one of her stories, probably the Rings.
Joe, ShejiCon gatherings will be held in 2012 at Worldcon-Chicon 7 in Chicago. Stay tuned.

I can’t say enough good things about this site! I LOVE Chicago! Having everything under one roof at the Hyatt Regency — in the heart of Chicago, on Wacker right on the river & adjacent to Michigan Avenue — will be FABULOUS.
I can’t wait to kayak the Chicago River again, and this time kayak Lake Michigan also! It is absolutely thrilling. I went with this outfitter 1.5 years ago & am still talking about it: http://www.kayakchicago.com/
Woo hoo! If I drive up, I can bring my kayak!!!! Mine! Mine! Mine! Fitted to me! I wonder if Bret is reading this…….
