We did it!
Nicely done – congrats on getting the site up. I’m looking forward to full bookshelves to choose from … although I know that will take some time. I’ve downloaded the freebies just to see if it worked and it did without a problem. Again – well done and thanks.
I’m getting duplicate messages saying to check my email when I download the freebies. Also, the font on Lynn’s freebie boxes for name and email is very large, different to yours and Jane’s.
Just a couple of nits.
Thank you all for being so patient with glitches. We’re working to fix them sort of in order of criticality and ease of fix, and have gotten a few, but what still has to be worked out is which file converts best to whatever format.
I got great news this morning,my cousin in Tennessee is having her son build me a new 17″
laptop(snoopy dances,grinning yellow circle)! I’d
been warned that this one has all but dead hard
drives and a few other mortal ailments,so the news is very timely.
All this and “Closed Circle” too!! What great fun!
Congrats! Wonderful news!
Oh, joyous day, I’m bopping around the site just fine! And thanks for the cookies!
Went to the store and purchased Faery Moon with no problems using Firefox.I am looking forward to seeing the changes you have made.
Good, i bought faery and DL also the Fancher.
a few problems : the link was broken, I needed a few tries to find how change it anfd finally made a copy/paste on the browser (NB my mail is Mail for Mac OS X.6 and my browser safari 4)
Upon opening the files, I remarked some were totally justified other were at right (under PDF and RTF)
Finally, and it is important for me, no link to the parts and chapters in the table of contents.
Excuse me for these remarks but “Qui aime bien chatie bien”.
Ps the illos are very good
Yes, it would be nice if the TOC was “live.” Dunno how huge a project that is.
Went to the store with seamonkey 1.1.18 on WinXP. Loads okay, works, but…
– the title page image is huge. 1.5MB is way too big and took very long to load.
– Tried to get Groundties, which I didn’t know. Download button seemed to work, but no e-mail. Second try – nada. Third try, after adding authors at closed circle dot net to the white-list of the server side SPAM filter: Now it came. SpamAssassin says it’s SPAM, the score being 5.5, and less than 5.0 is required. Spam report follows:
* 3.5 BAYES_99 BODY: Bayesian spam probability is 99 to 100% [score: 0.9984]
* 0.1 RDNS_NONE Delivered to trusted network by a host with no rDNS
* 1.9 INVALID_MSGID Message-Id is not valid, according to RFC 2822
– Visibility on the CC page is bad due to low contrast (dark background images and black text)
Other than that, I’m looking forward to reading Groundties and subsequently buying some books there 🙂
yep, most spam filters don’t like email addies from people not in your address book. we just look suspicious…
Talking about looking suspicious … your avatar is definitely looking suspiciously back at me. 🙂
😆 Ysabel is NOT to be trusted with avian neighbors. She’s an indoor kitty, but we would not be wise to have birds in the house with Miss Chittermouth…no.
I was able to get the PDF version working on my OLPC XO. The pixel resolution of the display is so high that the text is quite small (not comfortable for me to read), but it does work !
Don’t know if this will work, but here’s a screen shot: http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/8440/faerymoonxo.jpg
interesting. I can see it. Can you install Adobe reader (freeware, download off the CC site) on that machine? That should allow sizing of your font.
Don’t know about Adobe on the XO — it’s a Linux system, so it might work. Downside is that it wouldn’t be integrated with the “Sugar” user interface.
The built-in “Reader” app lets you zoom in, but the width exceeds the screen width (it’s a know issue). It can’t “reflow” the text to fit better unfortunately. Did it as an experiment, will fiddle around with it some more, haven’t played with the XO for quite a while.
