That would be Heavy Time, Hellburner, and the revised Faery Moon—which I hope will give improved function particularly in the PDF files, and some error correction in the others. I will advise if you are getting an update, KEEP your old files, against the probability that in patching the old mistakes I have made inventive new ones! But I have tried! I should be putting them up tonight, sometime around 8-9pm Pacific time.
I will be e-mailing people who bought Faery Moon with a special download code they can use to get the revision. Copies sold after the new version is installed will all be the new version. How’s that for simple? It may take me a while to work through all the people I have to e-mail, but I will post here when I am starting that process, and post again when I have FINISHED, so if you didn’t get your e-mail, (always check your spam filters!) we can fix the problem. Stay tuned for details. There is no charge for the update, naturally. A download link stays valid for 24 hours. So kinda look sharp, so we can do this with minimal confusion and catch-ups. Glad to do it, just don’t want to have to do it too often!
I will have one more download ready: any of you willing to pass out flyers at conventions, I have a b&w pdf file for you to download: I assure you that one is free!
Hello CJ , Very nice . I have ‘Hell Burner’ but not ‘Heavy time’ which I’d like to pickup . Thank you very much for all this hard work . Twyl , JimL
Thats very exciting. Heavy Time and Hellburner are two of my favorites. You don’t need to email me re Faery Moon – I’ll just get the new one directly.
Could I beg a small favor? Could you and Jane link to the books in your journals as they go up? I like to Twitter this stuff, and it would make it easier to find for anyone looking.
(ducks head — and offers tea, since I know you’ve all been working overtime getting this up and running already.)
Easy to do.
Well, nothing goes smoothly—my hard drive seems to have wheezed and Calibre is glitching on me. I am NOT going to make it this evening, I’m pretty sure…I am trying to dump significant stuff off my disk and hope it restores some wiggleroom.
Update: We have got it, we think.
Update to the update: we may not make it tonight—turned out Calibre had to be totally reloaded, and conversions we already did are having to be re-run. But tomorrow for sure!
I am really suprised that Hellburner and Heavy Time are not in print. I have them and even reread them – while it is true that they are not for the light reader, they are really intense books.
But at any rate, I am thankful that they are available.
The publisher was eaten by a megacorp, and their ‘model’ includes treating books as newspaper: you issue it and forget it and move on to the next issue. Literature doesn’t work that way…as you observe.
Great to see these available, and to know that they can be discovered by new readers – I’ve enjoyed them several times. It was a nice surprise to see the dedication to those of us who helped with the scanning – thanks CJ!
As a side note I was wondering if you’re planning on making any of the “rarer” stuff available at some point – e.g. Glass & Amber, the Company Wars article from the boardgame, etc? I’m sure there are many readers who’d enjoy them (and a few of us who’d be willing to scan if necessary).
Oh yes. Good point, KarlF. Anything you and Jane and Lynn have ever written should be at CC. I am going to go google Hellburner and Heavy Time and see if they bring me here.
Okay, this is great. If you google Hellburner, the first couple of sites are Amazon, but the THIRD – only the third, out of 17,500 entries for Hellburner-Cherryh, is Closed Circle. That is great. This is going to work!
Hi CJ, I’ll be going to ConQuest in Kansas City again this year (it’s the plan, at least) and can distribute flyers. It’s likely Selina R will be there selling signed copies, if we ask. Would this PO her, since it’s kinda competing for the same sales??
Not at all. We work with Selina, who, I’m sure, would bring any of my signed hardbounds with her. You have met Selina—you understand her humor involves lamenting that you are not buying Yard Dog books, and she will grab you by the lapels and wish you to do so, but it’s a joke (and she really wants to sell you things!) and if you laugh, she will. Besides! she is putting out one of Lynn’s books this spring, and you can buy that and make Lynn as well as Selina happy! We will have the same flyer available for download as soon as we get through our current task (getting the glitches out of Hellburner)…look for it!
She launched into me at full volume last year when the day was half over and I’d only bought the d**m CJ books! So, I appeased her by buying a couple of hers too. Looking forward to seeing her again, for sure!
