Jane’s got to vet it first.
And I’ve got a Seeking North story to post—maybe tomorrow…

W00t! Waiting with bated breath (but no worms)!
Sooner than monthly? Yowza!
I, too, lack earthworms. No doubt the earthworms are relieved. They’re probably out in the back yard, pondering whatever it is that earthworms ponder in their earthy-wormy-ness.
wormless as well! it sounds rather fun. Any new chapters or paragraphs on Gold in Aderin?
Not yet. I was so snowed under—requests for short fic are coming at me from several places, one of which I’ve staunchly promised, and of course a CC project has me, too. I got an idea from Lynn’s bit. Lynn says in an e-mail this morning that she has more ideas that could impact mine, so we’ll have to exchange a few e-mails and see what turns up. I don’t think there’ll be a long delay, but I don’t want to throw Lynn a curve, so we’ll talk that out, probably tonight, so I won’t post the story until I can get a consult with her. It’s very easy in a world like this one to tweak certain things, so all will work.
Congratulations on finishing the Bren book! And commiserations on the domain name hassle.
I must have missed the talk about the “Seeking North” collaboration. But I checked out the website and am looking forward to the result!
I just thought you’d want to see this picture of my granddaughter reading the best of books:

Precious! Get ’em while they’re young! 😉
Ok, here’s the deal: Lynn’s story isn’t finished. SHE’S going up with her next part in a few days—she’s writing it now; and Jane’s is in March, but she’s still cogitating and hasn’t started it yet. So in a phone conference last night, we’re going to have Lynn put hers up, and then on February 1st, mine goes up. If we put them up randomly we’re going to confuse people, and we would also push ourselves too fast: none of us has time to do this every month…because I’ve got to start a new book. So you’ll see another from Lynn in April, and one from me in May.
Meanwhile I may do random articles and, yes, maybe a map, or maybe regional maps, and then we’ll fit them all together.
oooh, can you tell us what the new book will be?
Well, probably (unless an idea strikes) another Bren book. Though I’m going to think about it.
just I picked up Cyteen, once again! so I was hoping …….
It sounds like the three of you are having a great time with the story, and the first installment was a… a real hum-dinger. (LOL) Good way to get us empathizing with Deke and see there’s more to his dad than we’re seeing yet, and interesting goings-on for their world.
Yay for new installments brewing, and (at least IMHO) monthly is reasonable, more frequent might do if one of you is particularly inspired, but we readers would rather you writers not push yourselves so that the enthsiasm and quality suffer, or your other work does.
OTOH, great to know about when things are scheduled. The maps sound like a neat idea. Hmm… if Deke and his dad, Rake, are adding to the map as they go… it would be a way for Jane or whoever draws the map to claim revisions as y’all think up new things to add to the world. 😉
Heheheh, I think purplejulian might be just a tad bit eager about that new book. Foreigner? Something else?
but please ignore my intemperate demands! LOL! I hope you can have a break, I think you might need it.
I just reread Paladin, which has always been one of my favorites. It stands up well to rereading. I love it. I hope you write whatever you want to write; we will all love to read it, whatever it may be.
You all are so sweet.
My two friends grabbed hold of me last night with the notice to slow down—this way lieth madness!—and this is probably a VERY good idea.
I can promise you’ll love this story when it comes out. 😉

If there’s a map, it’ll probably be me who does it. I’m the geology buff—not too much more than my friends, but enough more I really love drawing maps.
CJ, Your maps have always made sense to me and your world-building has always been so realistic because of the touches such as predominant wind-direction, and the climatic differences between coastal and inland land masses. The fully realized geology of Hammerfall and Forge of Heaven always drew me in and one of the mentions that made Foreigner so real to me was the change of breeze direction from stifling to cooling rains in Bren’s first scene was enough to keep me reading… Please more maps!
crikey – am just amazed at Cyteen – again – on probably the 4th read – unputdownable. what started me reading it again was the first of a series on BBC4 about the history of psychotheraphy, including some stuff on brainwashing and attempted mind-wiping which is very relevant to all CJ’s writing about Union and Alliance Space.
