Ysabel, due to her allergies, has never had a kitty treat in her life. When she lost Efanor, and with the new kitten tearing about, she was so down I found one thing she could have—pure human-consumption tuna.
She’s gotten a bone stuck in her throat, we think, can’t eat, coughing, breathing oddly, and we’re off to the vet again. I’m upset. I’m really upset. What can I say?
“Ground beef, corn, and white rice” …say, that sounds pretty good (laughs).
The pet store didn’t have my usual pricey but well-liked brand of dry cat food, so I bought Halo Spot’s Stew. The twosome have not given me much sign how they really feel about it, but they have not outright rejected it. (Some sales pitch, eh?)
I’m currently blessed that neither cat has special needs.
Further good vibes, well wishes, and prayers for Ysabel and family.
How is Ysabel this afternoon? Perkier , I hope?
She’s at least out of her carrier and moving about—ate a little turkey from my sandwich, and is otherwise pretty tired. She doesn’t feel well, but I can detect improvement. The diagnosis was respiratory infection, with a mega-shot of something; that’s going to make her feel icky. And the need to lower protein content in what she’s eating due to the from-birth kidney problem, at her current age: that’s going to be intersting with a corn allergy and gluten sensitivity. But we’ll work it out.
I tell you, Jane and I had about had it this morning, just too many things landing on us: losing Ysabel would be unthinkable. She’s 15, which is old age for a Siamese, but even so, she’s been
reasonable healthy for a gimpy old lady.
At her age, having a wheeze, and now being told I had to cut back on the chicken and other proteins, I’d be inclined to nip things too!
It’s good to hear that Ysabel is feeling better. Do keep an eye on Demon Kitteh… URIs are a lot like colds in humans, easily spread around the household.
My Rana-cat is somewhere around 14-15ish, and definitely slowing up a bit. I’ve been giving her Adequan, which is a shot of one of the proteins in joint fluid. It’s not a cure, but does seem to make things better, and that makes her happier. Acupuncture helped Trinkett, and it helps Rana, but Rana is not willing to relax and settle for it the way Trinkett did. Just some things to think about.
I am sending lots and lots of love and get-well wishes for the lovely Lady Ysabel. One very much hopes she is soon well. Also sending moral support and encouragement to her Mum and Auntie Jane.
Ysabel is much more herself this morning—wanted her morning brushing, ate a bit of breakfast, and is walking about, instead of hiding in Efanor’s carrier. She’s on the mend, I think, and we will indeed watch demon kitten for any hint of a sneeze.
It sounds as if Ysabel is clearly on the mend. Antibiotics take approx. 2 full days to fully kick in. I’ll bet by tomorrow she is back to her old self.
Glad Ysabel’s feeling better this morning. And you too. Hopefully life gets back to normal for the entire household this week. Hugs from me and goggy kisses to the kittehs from Tucker and Shadow.
oh gosh, I remember my mother’s Siamese in her last days with kidney failure – it was awful. mother had fed her those awful dried cat foods – this was in the 60’s – I expect that’s what did it. she was such a wonderful cat, if she was displeased the tail would turn into a bottle brush and she would scold my mother with her deepest best siamese voice.
recommended read for Siamese barminess – cats in the belfry by Doreen Tovey, and lots more
ps beautifully illustrated too …
