Including ones of me in the early morning. Shudder. BUT they look better than some circling the interwebs.
Mine was a culinary Christmas: Jane got me a breadmaker and a ceramic knife (and a knife sharpener to tackle our knife set), and I got Jane some cosmetics and a scarf and then MADE some killer thick-crust Italian bread!
We couldn’t find our traditional Christmas movie, Lion in Winter, but we found it on the telly, and watched it anyway; we watched Garfield II last night—far better than the first movie, much more Garfield—“Prince and the Pauper,” cat-style. I baked bread. We had pie, we had Champagne, and we are, this morning, officially back on our diet until New Year’s, before which we hope to drop a little short-term weight gain, and at which time we plan to have less sweets and more pasta, and then get back on the straight and narrow.
We lazed about all day. That’s not a bad thing. We needed that.
Let us know how the knife is. I’ve been looking at them, but wanted to get someone else’s opinion on them before spending money on one.
Ceramic knives are great, they are exquisitely sharp and never need sharpening. The one thing you must remember is that, being ceramic, they are brittle. Use a cutting board with them always, and don’t drop them, especially on a tile floor 🙂
So while the rest of the world is watching Merry Christmas Charlie Brown, CJ is going for a “christmas film” featuring power politics, betrayal, plotting….in fact a machimi play!
…There is also somewhat “alien” Anglo-Norman culture and a bit of romance, strong characters, costumes, etc.
It has been a few years since I saw the film. I think I’ll have to locate it.
I haven’t looked at a ceramic knife, but something truly useful for cooking is always welcome.
The Doctor Who Christmas Special for 2010 should be in my queue at home tomorrow.
A friend gave me a beautiful Christmas cactus, a fine surprise and thoughtful.
Greetings and best wishes for the holiday season.
I have to admit I tend to follow blogs of YA writers for work purposes but I am on holiday for 3 weeks and it occurred to me to search out my Favourite Authors.
Such joy to find you and your Closed Circle site. I am looking forward to discovering more titles I haven’t read.
I have purchased e-books in the past and been blocked from reading them because I don’t live in the U.S. Is this likely to be a problem with your site or is freedom from traditional publishing also freedom from such antiquated notions?
This is a somewhat belated Christmas gift, but my mom just sent me a link to something called Stellarium, which will show the local sky on your computer in real time. It’s really rather neat, and I thought you and my fellow Wavies might like it. You can find more information here: http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/FAQ
Thanks for this link – it is fantastic! (Hubby – and I – will be occupied for days with this one!)
We had friends over for new Year’s eve – it was still over 30 degrees after dark (about 90 degrees fahrenheit) so we were sitting outside. It was a clear night and we had a great time with the laptop and Stellarium, picking out shining lights and discovering more about stars we usually couldn’t name – great fun!
Love your little Fairy Penguin.
neat! Thank you!
Happy Holidays to all! The cats and I are having quiet days, so that’s good!
