I’m not sure I wouldn’t have figured it out from her initial post, eh? So much for the efficacy of the spamfilter.

LOL my family makes some killer Watermelon wine and we pickle the rind. If you ever been to Rush Springs. I can almost guarantee not much has changed in the last 60 years. Its a fantastic retirement town for sure, I plan on retiring there one day as well.
Pickled watermelon rind…..brings back the memories….I would love a good recipe……anyone know of any sites?
Wish I had access to some piemelon, too. It’s a native of Africa—brought up to North America probably via seeds, maybe in the bad old days of the slave trade, when some enterprising person might have taken some seeds along, in hopes of some familiar food; and it grows wild in Oklahoma and other such places. Winters might be too cold for it. But if somebody can lay hands on some piemelon seeds I’d sure like to try to grow a piemelon vine. I’d love try to make that marmalade.
Hmm…a brief internet search, what else—turned up identification of same also as “citron melon”, and offers seeds for sale. so who knows, if I get these, and they grow, I might be able to resurrect that recipe, which calls for a few piemelons, rind and all, a few watermelon rinds, some lemon rind, and some orange rind. And boiling forever and ever. At some point it candifies.
