This is something we’ve been talking about—a central location where readers can find authors with e-books to sell.
a new Facebook site: Backlist E-books, a multi-genre clearing-house.

When will it be born???
It’s already up. Just search for it on FB.
Apparently you have to belong to Facebook to use it. I will not join Facebook – too many people I know have had trouble with it. I try to keep a relatively low profile on the web; I have some site memberships, but I choose them carefully. I hope the Facebook fad fades, and people continue to use webpages that can be accessed by everyone, and found through searches.
You don’t have to set up a profile using your real name (fake names are fine) nor do you have to friend anyone, family or otherwise, or play games or any of that. My mom only uses hers to get local news stories and updates on some bands she likes. She has only a couple people friended. No family. Not even me! Personally, I’ve more or less quit mine, but if I had something useful like what she is proposing above I’d check it out (while not participating in 99% of the rest of the site!).
I don’t blame you: I have only recently gotten on it myself, for business reasons, and find it is a time sink and you have to be very careful. BUT—this e-book clearinghouse site has started on Facebook, but is only in organizational stages. The intent is to move this operation to a website, and at that point you won’t have to be a member of Facebook to view it or use it. Facebook is a convenient platform only for the moment, largely because it is free and is the meeting-place of a lot of writers. It’s going to grow, I think, but when it does, it will go to the web.
For right now, you can access most everybody sf and fantasy that we have an addy on, on the left sidebar, or through Bookview Cafe, in the SF field. The site this new bunch is organizing has many genres on it, which is good, really; and I will put out an advisory when they go website instead of FB. You’re not missing much at this point, since they’re at the trying-to-find-writers-with-e-books stage of their operation.
Already found it when you “liked” the site sometime in the last day or so.
Here’s the link. I logged out of Facebook and opened a new browser window. It seems to be open to everyone.

Thanks for the link. I consider Facebook a social disease and wouldn’t have visited otherwise.
Clever Martha!
A wonderful resource. I am trying to persuade my sister to obtain some kind of ebook. She is still reluctant. I told her I had the Dunnett Lymond and Nicholas series on my Kindle and she seemed more interested – she gave me my first Dunnett 🙂
PS, why aren’t Jane and Lynn there?
Jane’s in the process. She’s just right behind me. We’ve got to call Lynn and see how she’s doing.
Thanks for letting us know about this clearinghouse. I just sent out *59* BeB FB invites to sff lovers!
Thanks, OSG!
Just “liked” the FB group and shared it with my 700+ “friends”. Well, actually, the “alien” co-author of the book I’m writing did that in her FB account 🙂
Which is the value of FB: it can spread news like a wind spreads fire, and for business, letting people know is a good thing.
