…because she is. 😆

Heh. I’m glad to hear the fountain works for her. It’s wonderful when you hit upon the right solutions.
Ysabel may be a reformed cat. Or, maybe ill. She hasn’t even *attempted* to bite me recently 😉
Oh no, OSG, she’s just waiting for you to relax your guard…:D
i tried a fountain for our prior cat years ago from the pet store, ended up throwing the silly thing out – what flavor of fountain is it that ysabel is so attached to?
My kiddos all like the Drinkwell fountain, which I believe is the same one that Ysabel does. They weren’t as fond of the one with the blue dome.
Four or five years ago, when Shli was still living in my house, she worked at PETsMART and came home with this ugly, bedraggled cat saying “If I hadn’t brought him home, they would have sent him to the pound and killed him!”
I said “I don’t want that ugly thing in my house; get it out!”
Shli began to cry and it was a very bad scene. Then the Mrs got involved. She said “It’s MY cat now, and if you make him go, I’ll go, too!”
As my co-worker so aptly said when I explained the sordid tale “Of course you’ll back down, you love her more than you hate that ugly cat!” and she was right. Then Shli moved out and left the cat behind!

Well, Manticore (that’s his ugly name) has burrs in his fur and he looks like he lost a major territory dispute with a much larger cat. He kind of reminds me of Dana Duun Shtoni no Lughn of Cuckoo’s Egg with all the scars and the misshapen face.
The cat we had before Manticore was named Gryphie and he was psychotic! We had often said that if we could put Manticore’s brain into Gryphie’s body we’d have the perfect cat.

Gryphie peed on the walls and we couldn’t stop him no matter what we did. So the Mrs banished him to the outside. That lasted 6 weeks; a car hit him. The Mrs had a depressing storm of guilt for a few years after that! At least she had Manticore who was far nicer and gentlemanly than he looked.
Well, Manticore finally died. We have no idea how old the ugly thing was. But, he stopped eating last night and stopped being able to walk, too. I put him in the bathroom and this morning he was found in a small puddle of pee, lifeless.
It’s kinda sad. I didn’t want him, but he was comfortable to have around and I kinda got used to his face and scag-nasty fur. We had a little funeral for him, poor thing.
So we got Pestis Maxima when Gryphie died. I wonder if he’ll even notice that Manticore is gone.

Sad story Spence, sorry for your wife’s loss, and yours. Losing a pet is always tough. We have managed to stock up the last few years and now sport 3 cats and 2 dogs. All are under the age of 5, so we figure to have a few years before we have to deal with anything like what you just went through. I imagine it will cascade when it does, I just hope most of my kids are out of the house by then.
We’re empty nesters. The next pet to go will be our pointer that we got when we moved to this house, 11 years ago. He’s an old pup; there will be weeping and wailing when he goes!
Aw, Manticore looks like a very nice cat. I don’t see the scruffy fur, except for those mats on the right side of his neck. Those spots in the mirror look to me to be someone being sloppy when they washed their hands. Gryphie looks like he’s auditioning for “American Idol” and trying to burn Simon Cowell down with his eyes. I wonder if P.M. has been eaten by the plecostimus.(sp?)
