And I’m tired. I did make one dive out to the bank and another to the hardware to get a couple of bags of sand for the front.
I can report that I made progress today. Note the graph. But I am sooooo brain-tired.
Time to settle down and watch some Bleach tonight.
I feel that same way at the end of 7th period. Teaching all day makes my brain numb, too.
Brain-tired indeed! Just got home from doing my job and helping others do theirs, plus planning for a brand new curriculum (new lesson planning designs these days that take 10 times more time to plan a lesson than to teach it).
What episodes of Bleach are you on these days?
Whoof! I third that emotion. We just had a horde of elementary school kids blow through the library. While a happy buzz of activity is good, I don’t think these kids had ever had the standard Library Behavior orientation — running, yelling (or at least no modulated voices), etc. They came in with some parents, but the parents seemingly weren’t able to ride herd on the mob. They ended up sitting with the kids who wanted homework help, and let the others run all over. As a librarian, you don’t want to be a meanie and squish a budding reader by doing the stereotype ‘Shhhhhh!’ and glare, but the noise and activity level was over the top for about an hour.
It sounds like it’s the tired that comes from a productive day’s work. Congratulations on the progress! 🙂 😀 😆
Libraries were, and should still be, repositories of research. Not necessarily their primary purpose these days, since almost everyone can read. No need to restrict the use of the library to the “scholarly”. Even so, it’s distracting, difficult to concentrate, and sometimes, if the pitch of the child’s voice is high enough, goes through my ears like a bolt of ley induced lightning. There’s a restaurant on the Outer Banks that no longer allows children families with unruly children to remain. The first instance, the manager politely asks the adults to keep the kids under control, the second instance of the visit, they are escorted out of the restaurant and asked to return when they can keep their children under control or else not bring them. I don’t see the problem, since my parents always instilled good behavior in us while in public.
@CJ, good that you got some keyboard work in, instead of trying to catch Jane with the garden hose, dodge the garden rake, and any rocks she might have tossed your way. (Oh, and thank you for the kind reply to my email – I was worried I had done something terribly wrong, but you’ve allayed those worries.)
Congrats! — Got actual sleep last night (more than 2 hrs. at a time or altogether) and paid and mailed bills (ick) so, things are going well.
I’m about to hook up my new computer and get it set up today. Woo-hoo! Then I can get the old laptop mailed off for repairs. After that, I’ll actually have a spare. Hurray!
I had a couple of good ideas which may work out to be articles for one or two podcasts, if I have my act together. (The Signal Podcast, Firefly fandom; ScapeCast, Farscape fandom.)
The other day, I got an audition off for a fan audio podcast, for Star Trek: Excelsior. It’s looking good for my appearance as…somebody 😉 A redshirt, an alien, a villain, somebody or other.
So, fanboy-wise, I’m feeling quite good. — But I haven’t had time to sit down and really write more than notes, fiction-wise, which is very aggravating. Possibly this weekend, for real, actual writing to take place. — Despite my real-life activities, I *really* need time for creative expression, writing and artwork. Just gotta.
Best wishes on getting the latest novel done. 🙂
