The Dorsai stories.<br \/>\nHal Clement. <em>Mission of Gravity<\/em><br \/>\nLin Carter. Sword and sorcery&#8230;from the Old School.<br \/>\nPoul Anderson: many, many, from SF to near-historical.<br \/>\nRobert Howard. Conan, Kane, Kull.<br \/>\nC.L. Moore: many stories.<br \/>\nLeigh Brackett: many stories.<br \/>\nEdgar Rice Burroughs: Tarzan, John Carter of Mars<br \/>\nJoe Green: Tom Corbett, Space Cadet<br \/>\nAnthony Gilmore: Space Hawk.<br \/>\nAndre Norton: the Witchworld, et al; and Star Man&#8217;s Son.<br \/>\nJack Vance: the Dirdir, the Pneume, etc.<br \/>\nJerry Pournelle and Larry Niven as a team, the hell books.<br \/>\nLarry Niven: Ringworld<br \/>\nJoe Haldeman: the Forever War<br \/>\nAbbey and Asprin: Thieves&#8217; World (give CC time)<br \/>\nMarion Zimmer Bradley: Darkover novels.<br \/>\nAnne McCaffrey: the Pern novels.<br \/>\nRoger Zelazny: Dilvish the Damned [story], Lord of Light, the Amber stories, Damnation Alley.<\/p>\n<p>The point being&#8212;most of the younger people coming in may not even have heard of these.<br \/>\nName more of the ones that are harder to find in print now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We&#8217;re talking about books disappearing: books originally printed only in paperback&#8212;and books that are no longer in issue.
