Wish I could, but I have to have teeth 24-26 extracted, a temporary bridge for 3-4 months, then a final bridge from 22/23-27. Can’t afford to have my dentist do it, so I’m going to OHSU-SoD, and have to be ready when they are. Even so, it’s going to be a huge expense, and I don’t like touching the IRA.
found out it wasn’t a bicuspid, it was my 6th year molar (the first one that grows in…). It was pretty well shattered, and fell apart while brushing my teeth this morning prior to going to the dentist. She showed me the pictures, and then asked if I wanted to have a crown put on it….(YES!), and they told me how much, which was much less than I thought it was going to be, so we went ahead and put it on. I’ll get the permanent crown on the 24th of this month. Then there’s the second molar on the upper left side which is also in jeopardy of breaking……one step at a time.
We may need to reexamine the schedule of ShejiCon events based on CJ’s comments today. I’ll try to get with everyone who lets me know how to get in touch. Every associate planning to attend, please send an email to bajio [dot] kabisu [at] gmail [dot]com with: name and screen name, arrival date, hotel, departure date, email address, cell phone number, and whether you can send/receive text messages. My computer just died so I am having to recreate the file that I had created with the data as it arrived. Sorry.
I am putting US roaming charges on my stupid phone (10 day package)so I will be able to use it for Shejicon/Sasquan. Since I expect to blow into Spokane mid-afternoonish on Monday the 17th, and since the schedule seems to be,–er–fluid to say the least, could somebody likely to be in the thick of things give me a contact number so I could call when I hit town and touch base. Either that or you leave a large sign in the lobby of the Hampton saying “Hey T, we’re all over at ______ until ____!”
I will be closing out name tags on Thursday and printing them out. I’ll bring them out with me, or else I can mail them ahead, in case something unforeseen occurs and I can’t make it….
I think I’ve gotten almost everyone’s tag the way they want it…….
I still don’t have any lodging nailed down, will get a room at a $50/nite fleabag if noone has space in their room for a nonsmoking male. I can just barely afford that. I’ll be arriving late morning/early afternoon at the Greyhound station on the 15th, departing th evening of the 20th.
I am closing out the name tags. I have 26 people who have name tags, and I have just enough blanks to print them out. I’ll put them in the sleeves (these are not pin-on tags), and have them ready for distribution when I get there. My ETA is Sunday evening.
they’re finished, I had some trouble with a few of them, so you might find something on the back of your tag that doesn’t belong there. I had JUST enough to do all of them, and with a little bit of finesse, I was able to get them all printed in color.
They’re in their sleeves, there will be neck cords provided along with the tags so there will be no danger of damage to delicate garments while wearing the tag.
I’ve now booked at the Motel 6 West Airport for the duration. Hopefully a fellow attendee will be also there, or at another hotel in the vicinity. I will initially be wearing a black Shejicon 3 T-shirt “Assassins and Old Lace”
We’re running around, trying to get breakfast in us and watering the garden, etc before we leave. I’m damn near crippled from yesterdays hike around Safari West; my back this morning just went “Oh no. I didn’t like that.” I see lots of Ibuprofen in my future. (No regrets!)
Once we get the van loaded and everything set here, it’s a ROOOOAAAD TRIIIIIP!
For anyone coming in for ShejiCon and wanting to meet up, please send a phone number, or text address to me at Bajio.Kabisu@gmail.com. For our non-US associates send an email anyway to make alternate arrangements. Teasel, I’ll leave a message at the front desk for you.
Thanks Ready. Its a good thing I checked this site last thing before heading out. I will be pretty much running dark from here on in except via cell phone. Buttons finally arrived.
The only obstacle that remains is possibly that fire east of Oroville. Just do the dishes and I’m away!
I’m leaving for Spokane tomorrow! I should get there on the morning of the 18th. I have reservations at the Davenport Hotel and Tower from Tuesday August 18th through Monday August 24.
I hope to join in the festivities at least a little bit, however I am a vendor in the Sasquan Dealer’s Room. My participation in ShejiCon therefore will depend on what time I have once I have fulfilled my Sasquan commitments.
To any who knew my Spotty Dog: She passed this week. I therefore have no brain, if I made a commitment, please remind me. Thanks.
I can be reached by text for preference at 323-TwoFiveNine-Five3Nine3
Oh, condolences on losing your dog, which is especially tough when being a vendor requires you to set aside any personal emotions and grieving to attend to the outside world’s schedule and demands.
Hope you make it safely Kathryn. I also hope you have been receiving the text messages I have been sending. For reasons of security I have not been broadcasting the events here or on Shejidan but hope to be able to report once ShejiCon and Worldcon are over.
Please my fellow Associates, I am trying not to advertise when no one will be home at CJs. Be patient and a report will eventually appear (and photos).
As far as I know, these are public, but if you can’t see them, let me know…..
I’m not much for taking pictures, so I asked others to take these with my camera…after all, you can’t feed a tiger and do selfies at the same time…..LOL.
Wow, you weren’t kidding, you really did feed a real big live tiger! It looks like you all had a good time. I could see the pictures just fine, even though I’m not a member of flickr or anything. Looking a little further back, to the pictures of last year’s Shejicon, was nice too.
WoW’s S.O., Chris, fed Zeus, who is a Royal White Bengal Tiger. Neco-ji also fed Tuga, the same one I fed, and there were people who fed Oscar, the brown bear (he got apples), the cats got meat…..
My guide told me that Tuga is the biggest tiger in the zoo at 350 pounds, and he’s 7 years old. Sadly, my favorite cat, Dakota, a cougar, passed away last month at the age of 13.
I like the cats, I just feel bad that they’re not really able to live the way they were supposed to, but they couldn’t be re-introduced into the wild anyway. Zeus was declawed (grrr!), and they’ve all been socialized with humans, so I don’t know what the results would be. Some village would find a tiger coming in to be petted and everyone would panic? At least here they’re treated well, they get regular medical care, and their diets are nutritionally balanced for each cat (or bear or parrot).
Joe, thank you for your pictures of all and sundry. Since I wasn’t able to be there, the picture portfolios are the next best thing.
We had TONS of unseasonable rain this last week, several flash flood alerts, and all the mangoes still on the tree came down. No new leaks spotted and the one verified old leak gone, which was the acid test for the new roof and solar panel combo.
Paul, are you planning to come? If so, which avatar would you like me to use?

I understand….I just broke a bicuspid yesterday, and will need to see my dentist tomorrow…..augh!
Oh, owie! Sympathy to both of you!
Ow, ow, ow.

Email sent. How different do you think it may end up being?

DO WANT photos!!
Are you sure you want to see photos of me being fed to a tiger? oh, wait, those were of me feeding the tiger, not being fed to him…..

And I think I caught a glimpse of the Fishie Viewing Dome floating in the middle of one of the (pond) shots.

Thank you all for a wonderful time!
Paula! The towel is yours! It’s from our reserve stack and you are welcome to keep it!
