And it looks good. She estimates about 20 more hours hammering away at the thing, and she’s got some serious business to attend in the next few days that will divert her attention, but she’s seeing the finish line very close. Maybe this next week, friends! Time for us to start gathering things together.
Just had some great news from Lynn…she has achieved (almost) a template…

Anticipation level… rising… 🙂
I know, I can hardly wait! The new Faery book, Jane’s stuff (which I’ve never been able to find). Yay! Getting closer…
Congratulations and encouragements for Lynn!
I’m so looking forward to this, both for trying some of Jane’s and Lynn’s books (which I’ve never read) and for being able to read some of your older, out-of-print books that I’ve never managed to lay my hands on.
But I fully agree with the posters in last week’s thread, it’s important that you all take the time to do it right. AND that you take enough time for all the other, and ultimately more important, things – like writing and your personal lives.
Exercising patience is good for us, and delayed gratification is double fun .. lots of time for pleasant anticipation.
By the way, regarding anime: I liked ‘Howl’s moving castle’ though it’s a good thing Skitterling warned me not to expect it to be the same as the book, otherwise I might have been disappointed. I can’t quite understand why movie-makers feel the need to completely change a story when they like a book enough to make a film out of it. Generally, they already need to shorten a book to fit in a normal-lenght movie, and then they leave out even more just to put in new and unnecessary fights (or in this case, scenes of war).
‘Howl’ and ‘Spirited away’ were the only ones from the list which were available through the library, so I’ll watch the second one tonight and then go looking on the internet for some of the others. Thanks again for the advice!
hanneke28 – Glad you enjoyed Howl!
I cynically sometimes doubt whether movie moguls actually like, or have even READ, the book. They just look at the sales figures and say, “Oh, that one’s popular, we’ll have it. Now put in a lot of battle scenes for the non-readers.”
I echo the anticipation, and the advice to let us wait till the site is right. I was fortunate enough to get Groundties and Uplink (once upon a time a couple of moves ago, so I don’t know where they are now). Jane didn’t get any money though, because they were used books. I did buy the Rings new. I’m WAY looking forward to re-reading all sorts of goodies.
You guys have my sympathies with Joomla! I played with it for a while and, I think, I managed to change some of the text on the front page… jut not what I wanted to change. So when I say “Congratulations!” I mean it!
Yay! Congratulations! I cannot wait! (Well, I suppose I can, since I must, but it won’t be easy!)
It’s so good to have hopeful news! I’m waiting, anticipating…
woohoo! I remember haunting bookstores a zillion years ago when CJ would have 2 or 3 books out a year — course they were around the 75,000 word level then. But still — one gets spoiled and never forgets. I too an anxious to finally get Jane’s books. I live so rural anymore and if it ain’t at Walmart, it doesn’t exist. Trust me, there’s precious little at Walmart. But I categorically refuse to drive the 100 miles to Phoenix more than once or twice a year — and never in summer if I can help it.
This is gonna be different for me though — never was really interested in eBooks — I love the feel of books and always have one with me for those get-stuck-somewhere/waiting-forever moments. Hauling the computer about is not as user friendly. But I’m game — got mobi all loaded!
If you get hooked and decide you want a really portable reader, there are lots of choices besides Kindle (choices where you really OWN your books and Amazon can’t delete them if they discover a copyright problem). Here’s a fairly current list. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ebook_readers
