Jane’s made some formatting discoveries…which will translate to…

…nicer e-books in some formats. Some of the older formats (RTF, TXT and others) have some problems (gappiness and not displaying graphics) that she believes she can resolve. We aren’t yet ready to undertake revision of all our books, since Jane deserves the time to get her own books up there, but it will happen. [...]

And still happier news! I have 2 ‘new’ books and 1 revision ready.

That would be Heavy Time, Hellburner, and the revised Faery Moon—which I hope will give improved function particularly in the PDF files, and some error correction in the others. I will advise if you are getting an update, KEEP your old files, against the probability that in patching the old mistakes I have made inventive [...]

Here’s the quick refresher on e-files, downloads and what to do with them.

1. pick a device. Your computer will do. Download the offered file and store it. It’s about the size, as Sweetbo pointed out, of an MP3 download.

2. unzip it: just click on it. You will find 11 types of files (I think.) Now…

3. go to our left sidebar and download both Mobipocket Reader [...]

How to read e-books on your computer…

This for those of you who’ve never done this…help and comments via questions are welcome.

On the left sidebar, find downloads called E-readers. The programs in question are: Calibre and Mobipocket Reader. Calibre is shareware (ie, would like a little donation), and will both read AND convert files, quite powerfully; Mobipocket is freeware, and just [...]

Check it out! It works! It works!

Awright! I refuse, absolutely refuse to admit what I forgot to do. Too many irons in the fire is my only excuse and even I’m not buying that. But the download should now work! If it doesn’t…wait ten minutes before telling me. I wanna go take a shower! —>J

THE BUTTON ISN”T WORKING YET: WE [...]

What ‘reader’ do you recommend and why? We’ve had a request for this question.

Mine: I like my laptop. I live with it. And it has color, as well as pretty clear screens. I can also read it in the dark: I understand the eInk screens require an external light source just like paper. As I get older, my eyes get worse for close work, and my need for [...]

Prepping e-books

The actual launch of Closed Circle is getting close enough I’m going to spend time this evening actually assembling several e-books, notably Faery in Shadow and The Writing Life: A Writer’s Journal vol 1-3. Those will be the first out. Rusalka is ready, but Jane is not ready to do the cover yet. She’s prepping [...]

Just had some great news from Lynn…she has achieved (almost) a template…

And it looks good. She estimates about 20 more hours hammering away at the thing, and she’s got some serious business to attend in the next few days that will divert her attention, but she’s seeing the finish line very close. Maybe this next week, friends! Time for us to start gathering things together.
