The new book release (Alizant) is still set for the 1st. For those of you who’ve never tried e-books, remember you and your printer can turn one of our e-books into paper. Just print out the pdf. Or use the html and your own word processor to convert it into any size format you like. [...] The book is edited, and in good shape. What comes now is that messy business of composing the ‘mini’ and the ‘full’ downloads, which is close to arcane—not so, since I know what she’s doing, but suffice it to say she’s only gotten to the TOC (table of contents) and she’s nursing a splitting headache. [...] When that happens, re writing, it’s useful to start over. Not completely over; but to do what writers call a ‘rolling rewrite’, going back to the start the book and editing forward in rapid motion. So the page count has started over, and will follow the re-write. Don’t panic: this is ordinary. The process of writing is, well, a process. It goes for a while, then—it either goes on, or it requires the writer go back and regularize the spellings, or in some cases the names people have, or in some cases give the story the benefit of what the writer learned on page 30…. So I’m [...] Trying to run some site changes involving improved navigation and display happened (cosmic luck) to exactly correspond with Lynn’s update of the WP software….this comedy of errors has resulted in some artifacts on the CC site. It’s functional, and the info is there, and it can be read, but there are a few glitches that [...] We are very close to the Cafe Press store, which is what Jane has been working on, thanks to a nudge from our friends, and a little swearing… We actually have a store site: we just haven’t made it visible yet, as we refine it. We’ll announce it here when we’re ready to throw the [...] we have an inquiry on CC. We assume that you first download a file to your computer and use a USB cord to port it to your Iphone. But we’re not sure. So could somebody who uses an Iphone outline the steps for us and tell us what format the Iphone uses? While I’ve been busy getting Bren into trouble, Jane and Lynn have been working hard on book conversions, and Lynn has her latest cover (her own work) up on her site. Very soon now, they will be putting up books. Jane is close. Lynn is close. Just a heads-up. Plus we have some fun new [...] TOC and all. She’s been working on this for 2 months, and is now beta-testing (see her post) a new e-pub version that will enable use of other fonts and a searchable table of contents (TOC). |
