Jane and I are concerned for our partner Lynn Abbey, who is in an area where the eye could pass, if it deviates. She’s battened down and prepared, but this is one heckuva storm.

As of Wednesday night, I’d heard it was expected to make landfall or veer its course on Thursday morning, but I missed checking the TV news and didn’t check online. Now between Thursday night and Friday morning. (It’s Oh-Dark-Thirty here now.)
If Matthew headed inland, then the rest of the Atlantic and Gulf COasts should be OK, while Florida and Georgia are likely to get battered some and soaked. I’m in Houston, so depending on where the remnants go, I shuold be fine aside from heavy rains a few days after landfall.
My sincere sympathies. I know exactly what a severe hurricane or tropical storm can do. Here’s hoping all affected get their power restored quickly and debris cleared.
Now, I think, past Lynn.
My thoughts are with all in Matthew’s path. It’s going to be such a big mess for those poor people to have to clean up.
I’m kind of glad right now that I live 600 miles inland.
Power will be out in many areas, cell service likewise disrupted or overloaded. Lynn should be in a safe place, relatively so, and she warned us she may be out of touch for a bit.
