We made an order to Soda Stream somewhere back in … September, I think it was.
Order arrives: damaged. Sent back.
Replacement order arrives: damaged. Sent back.
Third try: we get a notification via tracking that it was delivered ‘to the back door’ —our garden gate is padlocked…and it’s a back door somewhere in OHIO…
We’re about 2000 miles from Ohio.
Between Soda Stream and their shipping department—we’re having a moment. And we’re still waiting for our diet Root Beer.
Not only that, the landline is dead.
This could relate to the new modem, which replaced the defective modem Comcast took 6 hours figuring out was defective, which replaced the defunct and defective modem that died.
Hello? Insanity central here.
Back a few months when you mentioned Soda Stream, I was looking for some diet fruit punch. I had in mind Hawaiian Punch, a childhood favorite, but HP didn’t have a convenient no-sugar size. I settled on Crystal Light, so when you mentioned Soda Stream (and, I think, Walmart) I checked online, and Soda Stream does have Crystal Light fruit punch syrup. But, at about double the price of the dry mix at Target.
Bottom line: you might look for a root beer you can add to carbonated water. You might even be able to find the exact brand. You’re paying something for the Soda Stream name. You might want to look at:

They carry Soda Stream root beer. (So, probably, does Walmart.)
They are total dufuses…but we love the product. The problem is that that particular flavor keeps flying off the shelves at Walmart. We’re going to have to get there after their shipment arrives—if Soda Stream doesn’t send it to Detroit.
We have the phone line working. We have unscrewed one 1956 vintage phone wire plate and think possibly it is disagreeing with my 1960 vintage white Princess Slimline phone (eat your heart out, Hyacinth Bucket)and it’s possible coffee spills (my cat keeps knocking my cup off the sill onto the phone) could have something to do with it.
That’s Buckét, dear.” 😉 🙂
I love that program. 😉 [Keeping Up Appearances, BBC or Netflix]
She’s exaggerated, but I recognize some of my sister in her. (Sorry I forgot the leading quote when I italicized.)
BTW, on domestication of kittehs:

It’s $5 at Target. Definitely it’s available for free pickup at Target or you seemingly (I haven’t done it) get free shipping with their REDcard. It’s listed as available in several Targets near you, if you really need your root beer fast. I have done free pickup at Walmart, but I didn’t check on this product. With free pickup, you know it’s going to be there waiting for you, though possibly far into the store.
(I’ve heard some talk of a free pickup locker system, where you’d get a code to open a locker with your, “It’s here,” email.)
The diet is 50 cents cheaper at Walmart, $4.49. You can order online and do free pick up at the store today. Seems easier than dealing with SS. Or, they have free shipping at $35.
Definitely check out Walmart and Target. And Amazon carries the soda stream produces too [gotta love that Amazon Prime!].
And for everyone’s holiday enjoyment, silly cat moment for a chuckle. http://www.pawbonito.com/how-to-wrap-a-cat-for-christmas/
Bed Bath & Beyond also carries Sodastream. About the same price as Target.
WOW! You are having some real head banger days! Toes crossed that all smooths out quickly and you get to enjoy a happy Christmas.
Proge bought me a Sodastream for Christmas last year. He did a little research and decided that he would rather deal with Staples than Walmart. We don’t use flavorings as we prefer to use fruit juice, but they seem to have a ready supply of flavorings. One thing that Sodastream notes on its web site is that retailers choose which products they carry. Online shopping can be great unless it’s the pits.
The best place I found was a Kitchen Collection at the outlet mall near my brother’s place in NH. They had everything including various size bottles. I use the 16oz. size as like to to take it with me.
Ah, so, it’s working it’s way East, is it? It was here Friday and Saturday (documented in another thread). Hope it’s not like the storms that are uncomfortable niusances here, and turn killer when they get to the Midwest and East Coast. If so DC is in for it. Not that Congress doesn’t deserve it! Who elected those Bozo’s anyway?
The Iranians have managed to retrieve their rhesus(?) monkey from orbit. From the pictures the poor thing looks scared into near catatonia.

A joke has it that Iran will continue their space program, as they still have monkeys left…
Instead of rhesus pieces?
That was bad and you should feel bad.
We had a squall front of severe thunderstorms come through last night. The gust front had a measured (by my weather station’s wind gauge) speed of 73.8 MPH. I thought I’d gotten off easy, since all I was experiencing was water seeping through my foundation into the basement.
When I left for breakfast with my parents this morning, it was dark, so I didn’t see the roof. I saw it when I came home, lots of shingles missing. I put in a claim with the insurance company, and they’re sending out a contractor to put a tarp on my roof this afternoon.
My parents lost their phone during the storm, mainly because they’re using the cable company for their provider. I flatly refuse to do that, because as a SKYWARN spotter and coordinator, I have to have telephone service to report emergencies to the National Weather Service. Cable telephone, not being a utility, isn’t required to have a backup power source. Ma Bell, OTOH, is a public utility, and is required to have that backup. In this case, they have storage batteries at their central office to maintain the switches and signal transmissions along the lines. As long as the lines are up, I can call. Cell phones are nice, but in a disaster such as an EF4 or EF5 tornado, there’s no guarantee that the towers are going to survive, or that you’ll get access to a cell because of the sheer volume of calls going through that cell. I have a cordless phone for when lightning is in the area, but if the power dies, I still can use the corded phone when it’s safe to do so.
I love living in Ohio!
BTW, I wonder where in Ohio they said they’d delivered your package…….
