One more round of waiting rooms…
Took Joan back to the doctor today, and now they want her to go to a lab, which her daughter in law is doing. Jane’s meanwhile using fish tubing to connect the fuel injector on her car so she can get to her hair appointment, and her hairdresser apparently had a yen to cut things short…Joan’s disgusted, and miserable, and it’s just been one of those days.
On the brighter front, it’s so much nicer to type when you don’t have to back up every fifth letter. I’m loving my new keyboard. The Dell guy called today to walk me through installation, but Jane was way ahead of him: we had that thing in within a few minutes, the day the part arrived. Now I just have to mail the semi-dead keyboard back to them, postpaid. Sensible. Dell does figure you can wield a basicĀ screwdriver. And you get to have your stuff much faster.

Jane knows how to fiddle with fuel injector tubes?
I am awestruck!
I don’t even know where the injector tubes ARE on my 1994 Ford Taurus. Or any other car. Nor did I ever guess that the piping conveying fuel to the injectors was flexible.
Of course I haven’t been able to work on any car since my neighbor drove my wife’s 1979 Monza into an I-beam on the Triboro (now RFK) bridge. He (70-odd years old) had no memory of the incident, nor of hailing a cab and continuing on to Kennedy to pick up a young cousin from some French village. The pictures of the car, being stripped for parts in East Harlem a couple of hours later, were quite a hit in my son’s kindergarten show and tell. Especially since I had given rides to a lot of my son’s classmates.
None of which has a thing to do with my admiration for Jane’s mechanical imagination, which infinitely (and obviously) far surpasses my own.
Wish I could claim to be so smart! It’s air hose. PCV valve connector hose actually, and a smaller, unidentified air hose. But the tubing is working so far…until it melts!
What I’m afraid of is the car is so old all the hoses are going to start going on me. It’s an ’85 Olds Firenza with less than 90,000 miles on it. Pretty nice little car, but doesn’t get driven enough.
Oh for the love of little green fishes… I’m sorry Joan is having A Day. Ditto Jane; is she at least happy with what the hairdresser did, or will there be trouble? Virtual bouquets and appropriate beverages as needed in their general direction.
New functioning hardware is goooood.
I have told Jane it looks great.
And Joan dodged the hospital…thank goodness.
I understand we all owe a debt of gratitude to the Orion slave girl, again! She certainly does know how to take care of her friends, associates and salads, doesn’t she?
Ah, PCV hose makes a lot more sense–the fuel injector system runs under mucho pressure downstream of the injector pump, and I had visions of a vinyl tube inflating like a balloon, bursting, and dousing the engine with gasoline with our friends as interested observers.
