When I lived in Florida in 1975, my only transportation was a motorcycle. I had 2 jobs, one about 15 miles from the house, the other about 30 miles. Love Bug season was just not enjoyable for me…….
The summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college, my parents got an RV, might’ve been one of those midlife crisis sort of wacky ideas. Haha, they eventually sold it afterwards.
We made a grand tour of relatives on both sides of the family, Texas through the South, up through the Blue Ridge Parkway to my dad’s side of the family in Virginia and around there, then over to Kansas, down to Oklahoma, and back home to Texas.
One stop was at my dad’s brother’s in Roanoke, to my uncle and aunt’s new house and gardens. Really wonderful. It was summer, though, and there were love bugs. Lots and lots of love bugs. Some inevitably would make their way inside. Now, my aunt and uncle both grew up farmers, and they were fine with the love bugs for controlling aphids and such and pollination. My parents and I had nothing against the little critters either. LOL, but it could be “interesting” dealing with the little varmints when you’re minding your own business and — “Howdy! I’m a love bug, and I’ve come to see *you* (and get on you, in your hair, whatever).” LOL.
So one sympathizes with Lynn. Wow, has she updated her blog? Hope so.
I’ve been following Jane’s plucky, hammy, attention-hound house-elf with more interest than I really would’ve ever expected. LOL. Worth the look, to be sure.
I never saw a love bug in Virginia and I lived there upwards of 13 years……saw lots of love bugs in Florida, only lived there 8 months.
